Chicago Med season 11 will feature the real-life son of one of The Pitt’s most popular stars. Both medical dramas, Chicago Med–which has aired since November 2015–takes place at the fictional Gaffney Chicago Medical Center, while 2025’s The Pitt is set in Pittsburgh and shows an unflinching depiction of what ER doctors go through.
After Chicago Med season 10 rejuvenated the show and brought back past characters, fans were excited to find the show was renewed. Those fans wanted to learn as much as possible about Chicago Med season 11, but nobody could have known there would be a crossover of sorts with The Pitt’s cast.
In August 2025, TVInsider revealed that Cassius Hatosy, son of Shawn Hatosy, will guest star in Chicago Med’s season 11 premiere. Shawn Hatosy starred in The Pitt season 1 as Dr. Jack Abbot, a character fans loved even though he only appeared in a handful of episodes. TVInsider offered a brief description of Cassius Hatosy’s Chicago Med character.
19-year-old Hudson Collins, a patient who finds himself in Med for treatment of a badly injured leg as a result of a building collapse at an all-night rave.

What This Means For Chicago Med
Despite how intense the competition is in Hollywood, Shawn Hatosy has been a successful actor for decades now. As a result, the actor has built a reputation that would be hard for anyone to live up to, let alone his son. However, there have been many young actors in Hollywood over the last several years who’ve surpassed their famous parents.
If Cassius Hatosy does become a superstar, Chicago Med will always be known as the show where he got his start; Hatosy’s only pre-Chicago Med credit on IMDb to date is a short film role. Either way, Chicago Med fans will still be able to enjoy the young actor’s work in season 11’s premiere.
Our Take On Chicago Med And The Pitt’s Family Crossover
When Cassius Hatosy appears in Chicago Med season 11, the fact that he is the son of someone who stars in The Pitt won’t make any real difference. The knowledge that Cassius Hatosy has a famous father who stars in a great show shouldn’t affect how his performance is received, if most viewers pick up on it at all.
Still, as someone who has seen every episode of Chicago Med and The Pitt, I love that there will be a family crossover of sorts. I can even see myself pretending that Cassius’ character is the son of The Pitt’s Dr. Jack Abbot; just imagine Dr. Abbot having a son who partied at an all-night rave.
