Until recently, Shemar Moore was the only actor confirmed for the upcoming S.W.A.T. Exiles. Now, per TVLine, the spinoff has added a 9-1-1 Lone Star actor to the cast in the form of Ronen Rubinstein, who played T.K. Strand on Lone Star from 2020 to 2025.
Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Jay Harrington and Patrick St. Esprit would reprise their respective roles as Sergeant David “Deacon” Kay and Commander Robert Hicks, respectively, but only in a guest-starring capacity.
In addition to Robenstein, S.W.A.T. Exiles will also star Freddy Miyares (When They See Us), Lucy Barrett (Charmed), Zyra Gorecki (La Brea), and Adain Bradley (All American). The cast joins Moore, who will reprise his role of LAPD Sergeant Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson Jr. in S.W.A.T. Exiles.
No character descriptions were included in the casting announcement. TVLine reported in July that S.W.A.T. Exiles did put out a casting call earlier this year looking for, a “charismatic, Black former Marine from South Central; an undercover cop with a questionable shooting in his past; an amputee who was at the top of her class at the academy and refuses to ride a desk; a tactical prodigy with a disruptive lack of social skills; and a former beauty queen who now works as a law enforcement ‘influencer.’”
Production on the Spinoff Will Start This Month
Production on S.W.A.T. Exiles is set to begin this month in Los Angeles. The first season will reportedly consist of 10 episodes. The season premiere will be directed by Kevin Tanancharoen (The Book of Boba Fett). Jason Ning is the showrunner and executive producer. Moore is also an executive producer with Neal Moritz, Pavun Shetty, James Scura, and Jon Cowan.
The original S.W.A.T. premiered in 2017 and officially ended its eight-season run in May, after being canceled by the network three times. S.W.A.T. Exiles was announced shortly after the original series was canceled. Keith LeGoy, Chair of Sony Pictures Television, teased the spinoff series back in June.
There is a S.W.A.T. family, and that family is important,” LeGoy said. ”We would love to have other family members involved in some way, whether it’s all of them all of the time, some of them some of the time, or something in between. That’s something that we are still figuring out,” concluded.
