Who is The Golden Bachelor, Barry ‘Bear’ Myrden?
Barry ‘Bear’ Myrden has been announced as the leading man for The Golden Bachelor Australia, and we kinda love him already!
The 61-year-old works in Data Centre Management at Woolworths Group and has also held senior roles at Macquarie Bank and the NSW Port Authority.
While his career has flourished, his personal life has been touched by tragedy.
According to Chattr, Bear was previously married to Audrey Myrden, who unfortunately passed away in 2011 following a “very aggressive malignant brain tumour” diagnosis in 2009.
Bear shares three sons with his late wife, Charlie, Jack, and Declan, who are reportedly between 17 and 21 years old.
Sources close to Bear have revealed that his sons haven’t been too keen on the people he’s dated.
“Bear’s always complaining that his boys are saying he’s bringing around the wrong kind of girls that are just too young and hot for him,” one friend told an outlet. “We were always saying that he needs to be put on a show like MAFS, so seeing him up for the Bachelor role is no surprise.”
Another source claimed Barry is “charming, intelligent and has lived a really full life”.
“Bear isn’t your usual reality TV type,” they added. “He’s been through love and loss, and now he’s ready to open his heart again. Women are going to adore him.”
