It’s been a whirlwind few weeks for Brady on Days of our Lives. After piecing together the puzzle that Sophia had lied about Tate’s baby, Brady believes that the child is actually in Javi and Leo’s care. True to form, he leaned on his father’s legacy, turning to Steve for confirmation and pulling Rafe into the mix to secure DNA evidence. The revelations have pushed Brady into the center of the storm, and as actor Eric Martsolf explained in a new interview, the character’s guilt is beginning to eat him alive.
A Family Man in Crisis
Martsolf admitted to Soaps that everything Brady does is rooted in family. “Brady believes in family,” the actor stated. “His father was John Black, for God’s sakes, the pinnacle of goodness!” He explained how Brady had good intentions when he brought Tate (Leo Howard) back to Salem, but the young man got into trouble, making parenting difficult. Brady doesn’t just want to reveal the truth about what happened to the baby; he also wants to “keep his son from sinking even deeper.”
The burden has been crushing. With Tate spiraling and Rachel (Alice Halsey) dealing with the fallout of Kristen’s (Stacy Haiduk) imprisonment, Brady feels pulled in too many directions at once. Martsolf didn’t sugarcoat it, bluntly stating, “Tate’s a mess.” He went on to add that Rachel, too, is facing “rough water that no parent would want to see their kid go through.”
A Father’s Guilt
That dual crisis has left Brady questioning his worth as a parent. Marsolf explained that at the end of the day, Brady puts family above all else. He remarked that, “His family is just being ripped apart right now,” adding, “He just feels like a failed dad, because his kids don’t seem to be on an upward swing.” Brady feels that it’s his own fault that his kids aren’t doing well.
Still, Martsolf teased that exposing Sophia (Rachel Boyd) may be Brady’s first step toward redemption. While the path forward is rocky, the actor believes audiences connect with the struggles of a dad who simply wants his kids safe and happy—even if, in Salem, safety never lasts for long.
