‘Chicago Fire’ Season 14 Premiere Images Introduce a Brand New Face to Firehouse 51
Multiple departures mark the start of Chicago Fire Season 14. From long-running fan favorites like Darren Ritter (Daniel Kyri), to recent darlings like Sam Carver (Jake Lockett), and the yet-to-be-explored Damon Severide (Michael Bradway), many gaps are left in Firehouse 51. However, the show has a replacement or two lined up, and in the season premiere, we meet one of them, Sal Vasquez (Brandon Larracuente). “Sal is good at his job and he knows it,” Larracuente said in an interview while previewing the character. “He wants to be the best he can be at his job and to protect those around him while he’s doing it,” the actor added. NBC released new images from the “Kicking Down Doors” episode of Season 14, which preview the new characters and Ritter in one of his final rescues before the character leaves. The episode’s logline below also teases some conflict between Herrmann (David Eigenberg) and Mouch (Christian Stolte).
Sal Hits the Ground Running in ‘Chicago Fire’ Season 14 Premiere
For a new firefighter, Sal settles into the team quite quickly, as seen in the images above. The team responds to multiple emergencies, and he can be seen right front and center. Is he overzealous, careless, or both? Whatever it is, his lieutenant Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) will have a tough time streamlining him. “Vasquez will prove a real challenge to Kidd, his new lieutenant, as well as to Novak (Jocelyn Hudon), as she tries to get to know this seemingly unknowable guy,” Chicago Fire‘s showrunner Andrea Newman said while introducing the character.
