Steele’s Marissa Gold will reconnect with her “Good Wife” and “Good Fight” colleague Elsbeth Tascioni in the CBS drama’s third season.
When last we saw Marissa Gold (Sarah Steele) in the series finale of The Good Fight, the Reddick, Boseman & Lockhart investigator was newly married to her Krav Maga instructor and moving on to a new job with Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) at a D.C.-based law firm. But three years later, it seems Marissa has a whole new career — one that will reunite her with another key player from the Good Wife/Good Fight universe, Elsbeth Tascioni.
Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive first look at season 3 of CBS’ Elsbeth, starring Carrie Preston as the titular lawyer/tote bag enthusiast/NYPD-adjacent investigator. In an upcoming season 3 episode titled “Poetic Justice,” Elsbeth encounters Marissa — now a campaign manager for New York mayoral candidate Alec Bloom (Ivan Hernandez) — at a charity benefit.
“Sarah Steele was at the top of the list of actors from The Good Fight we wanted to have back,” Elsbeth and Good Wife/Good Fight creators Robert and Michelle King tell EW in a statement. “She can read a medical chart and make it funny. And Marissa Gold is one of our favorite characters, so it was a thrill when [Elsbeth showrunner] Jon Tolins wanted her back too.”
The episode will also feature a guest-star appearance by The Good Place’s William Jackson Harper, who plays the founding director of a New York City-based poetry journal that’s in dire need of funding.
In its first two seasons, Elsbeth has featured an impressive roster of guest stars, including Keegan-Michael Key, Vanessa Williams, Matthew Broderick, Nathan Lane, Gina Gershon, and many more. The show’s third season premiere will feature an appearance by Emmy-winning Late Show host Stephen Colbert as a late-night host named Scotty Bristol who’s dealing with tensions between his head writer (Amy Sedaris) and on-air sidekick (Andy Richter).
Season 3 of Elsbeth premieres Sunday, Oct. 12 on CBS.
