Insiders whisper that CBS quietly filmed a backdoor pilot during the final weeks of Season 4 production, setting up a potential spin-off titled Station 42: Origins.
According to crew leaks, the episode follows a young Sharon Leone in the early 1990s as she trains to become one of the first female captains in Edgewater County.
A source inside the writers’ room claims Max Thieriot personally pitched the idea after reviewing fan letters asking for Sharon’s backstory.
“It’s not just a prequel,” the source revealed. “It’s a chance to show how the community—and fire science—changed over three decades.”
If CBS greenlights the series, filming could begin as early as next summer with a new cast and guest appearances from current stars in flash-forward scenes.
