Only 2 Sitcoms From 1 Network Were Among 2024-2025’s Most Watched Shows md24

enizens of Woodstone proved almost as popular as Georgie and Mandy, as the CBS series was the only other sitcom that made it onto the 2024-2025 season’s most-watched list. Based on the British sitcom of the same name, Ghosts entered its fourth season in 2024. Its fifth outing will premiere in October 2025.

CBS’s sitcom dominance is striking since the rest of the networks are fighting hard to keep up even though the network lost its biggest sitcom, Young Sheldon, to cancellation early in 2024. Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage might have been the biggest sitcom of the 2024-2025 season, but its season 1 number pales in comparison to Young Sheldon’s finale audience of 9.32 million.

CBS’s Sitcom Dominance Isn’t Guaranteed

Judging from this data alone, a reader could be forgiven for assuming that CBS has the sitcom field locked down. However, this could not be further from the truth. CBS is about to lose its third-biggest sitcom, The Neighborhood, to cancellation when the series ends with the 2025-2026 season.

ABC has Shifting Gears and Abbott Elementary, both of which fared well in the 2024-2025 season. The former almost broke the top 25 most-watched list with its first season, while Abbott Elementary season 4 recovered from a disastrous time slot shift to command an impressive audience in its second half.

Admittedly, Fox would have a hard time dethroning CBS from the live-action sitcom top spot, as both Going Dutch and Animal Control scarcely broke 1 million viewers on average. However, NBC’s new arrivals St Denis Medical and Happy’s Place both fared well, meaning Ghosts and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage aren’t guaranteed to keep the same spots next year.
