Chicago Fire is currently casting for “background roles.”
All ages and genders are encouraged to apply.
The chosen actors will appear in photo shoots and other scenes in Chicago, Illinois.
Hello, 911. We want to report an emergency: Chicago Fire is hiring extras and we don’t have our headshots ready!
Backstage says the popular NBC drama is currently “seeking talent of all ages for background roles.” This includes babies, teenagers, and adults—anyone can apply.
If you’re obsessed with One Chicago Wednesdays, this could be your chance to get off the couch and get in on the action as Severide saves someone’s life, Casey and Brett try to define their relationship, and Chief Bowden bark orders at the rest of the Firehouse 51 crew.

The descriptions for some of the roles explain that the actors are just needed for a “photo shoot,” while others don’t offer any specific details. After everything that’s happened on Chicago Fire over the last eight seasons—from turbulent relationships to heartbreaking deaths—it wouldn’t be surprising if the extras have to be part of some dramatic scenes.
Given the show’s name, one can also assume that fire will be involved. But if you’re fearful of flames, don’t worry—the entire cast has been through real-life firefighter training.
