Secrets, Fists, and Family Drama—Tracker Season 3 Trailer Teases Colter and Russell’s High-Stakes Reunion md12

Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley) is back, looking for missing people in Tracker Season 3. The hit CBS series returns next month on October 19, and with just a few weeks remaining, CBS has released a teaser trailer. In it, Colter is back on the road, traversing the roads of rural and urban America in the search for those lost. His job pits him against nature and people, and in some instances, the only way out is through punches. Meanwhile, he’s dealing with some recent discoveries about his family. The season premiere features a Shaw Family reunion as he joins forces with his brother Russell (Jensen Ackles) to find two missing women. The logline for Tracker Season 3, Episode 1, “The Process,” reads:

“As Colter grapples with the shocking truth surrounding his father’s death, Russell joins forces with his brother to help track down the missing wife and daughter of one of Reenie’s clients. Their reunion finds them mixed up in a chain of events involving a sinister underground operation known as “The Process.””

Tracker introduced a mystery in the pilot episode about the death of Ashton Shaw. The show has been peeling back layers of the story throughout the past two seasons, reaching an inflection point in the Season 2 finale. The show aims to tackle that head-on in the Season 3 premiere. “He’s still sifting through the results of that meeting, and some of the questions he has about his father, when Russell arrives to pull him out of his funk,” showrunner Elwood Reid said in an interview while previewing the upcoming season. He added,

“They talk through what happened, and it’s an interesting scene, because you get to hear the two brothers talk about the different ways they feel about [the night their father died] and what they still carry with them. And then, of course, a case jumps off, and that conversation about their family continues through the rest of the episode in an exciting way.”

The show will continue to explore this mystery and the fallout from Ashton’s death. “What was the father involved in — we’re going to answer that — and how much do you blame your mother for her actions?” teased Reid. Tracker returns on CBS on Sunday, October 19 at 8 p.m. ET. The season premiere was written by the showrunner and directed by Ken Olin.
