Meemaw’s First Marriage in Season 2 Leaves a Mystery That The Big Bang Theory May Never Solve md13

Meemaw’s return to Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 2 being extremely unlikely makes the possibility that her The Big Bang Theory mystery will never be solved more probable. Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 1 having to act as a bridge with Young Sheldon made the Coopers’ appearances more frequent in its freshman season, inevitably including Connie and Dale.

While appearing only in four episodes, Meemaw’s sportsbook business made waves, prompting Connie to simultaneously implicate Mandy in her illegal business and cause chaos by accepting Jim’s bets. This set Meemaw up as a potentially important player in First Marriage season 2, as she could have continued to sow discord, and the Young Sheldon spinoff could have detailed her developments.

However, it doesn’t seem feasible for Meemaw’s Annie Potts to reprise the beloved part. Potts’ new role in another network TV show indeed makes her return as Connie Tucker in First Marriage season 2 unlikely.

Annie Potts’ Best Medicine Part Makes A Bigger Role In First Marriage Season 2 Impossible

No news report officially divulged whether Potts will be part of First Marriage season 2 or not. However, Fox’s Best Medicine reportedly added Potts to its series regular cast ranks in July 2025, with the legendary Young Sheldon actor revealed to be playing the protagonist’s aunt, a loyal, stubborn lobster woman with a difficult past with Martin Best.

Potts playing Aunt Joan in Fox’s medical comedy marks a serious hurdle for the continued presence of Meemaw in First Marriage. Indeed, Best Medicine going into production in upstate New York makes it extremely difficult for Potts to reprise her role as Meemaw in First Marriage, which is filmed in California and follows Best Medicine’s same network TV-induced time constraints.

Meemaw’s role in season 1’s story warrants a similar, if not bigger, presence for Connie in First Marriage season 2. Between her unrepentant attitude toward her sportsbook business and Mandy’s fascination with her, Meemaw would need to take center stage in several storylines. This seems entirely unlikely following Potts’ casting in Best Medicine.

How Meemaw’s Big Mystery Risks Remaining Unsolved

Even if Potts’ absence were to be a problem only for First Marriage season 2, featuring Meemaw down the line in a way and manner that could potentially explain Connie’s central Big Bang Theory mystery seems impossible. First Marriage season 1 re-established Connie’s recklessness through her sportsbook business, after her arrest in Young Sheldon had interrupted her illegal enterprises.

First Marriage putting Connie on a path of crime pulls her away from the version of Meemaw that Big Bang Theory presented, one that was stern and unrelenting, albeit with an unexpected sense of humor. This makes a potential explanation of Meemaw’s change into her TBBT version require her bigger presence in a show still centering on Georgie and Mandy.

Such an explanation was possible through First Marriage bridging the gap between the Young Sheldon years and the little audiences got to see of Sheldon’s family in TBBT. However, Meemaw’s presence being virtually nonexistent in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage makes it more difficult to amp it up even in the future, leaving her Big Bang Theory mystery effectively unsolvable.
