Former pro football player Mel Owens is in his golden years and looking for love as the second-ever “Golden Bachelor” on ABC. The premiere episode kicked off with not one, but two rose ceremonies, sending one of the two Floridian contestants packing.

There were two Floridians on this season of “The Golden Bachelor”: Alexandra, a 67-year-old luxury yacht sales representative from Miami and Nicolle, a 64-year-old yoga instructor from Miami Beach. But one of them was eliminated at the end of the premiere episode.
Alexandra, unfortunately, did not receive a rose during the second rose ceremony.

Who is Mel Owens? How old is Mel Owens?
Mel Owens, 66, is a retired NFL player and attorney from Detroit. Owens attended and played football at the University of Michigan and was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams as the ninth pick in the 1981 NFL Draft.
After retiring from football, Owens moved to California to pursue a career in law, representing clients in sports-related injuries, the release said. He shares two sons with his ex-wife, Fabiana Pimentel.
“While life took an unexpected turn with the passing of his father and the end of his marriage, Owens channeled his energy into being the best father he could be, focusing on raising his sons and coaching their extracurricular sports teams,” the release said.
