Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage premiered in October 2024, marking a direct sequel to Young Sheldon. The show was renewed for Season 2 in February, and it’s set to return one year after its premiere, with a debut on CBS on Oct. 16. Speaking at LA Comic Con this weekend, which was attended by CBR’S Nic Guastella, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage showrunner Steven Molaro teased the familiar Young Sheldon faces they’ll bring back in Season 2.
During the Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Season 2 premiere sneak preview post-panel interview with Nic Guastella, showrunner and co-creator Steven Molaro explained that Season 2 will feature familiar and new faces, “I mean, we’re only six episodes in right now. [The Flash] Matt Letscher plays Fagenbacher, the rival, and he’s terrific.”
He continued, “Chris Gorham, who plays Scott, is back — we just shot an episode with him, and he’s fantastic. He’s doing double duty for us because he’s on another show in Canada, so we have to “steal” him when we can.”
Molaro teased, “[Young Sheldon‘s] Zoe Perry is back, and we had Raegan Revord back this season, which has been really exciting. So yeah, a lot of young Sheldon-adjacent characters. Matt Hobby is back as well. Yeah, Matt Hobby — that genius.”
Young Sheldon‘s Melissa Peterman teased, “I’m looking for Brenda and Audrey to become best friends.”
Molaro concluded that “It’s really up to” the fans.
The Big Bang Theory Franchise Continues
The fan-favorite sitcom may have ended more than six years ago, but the franchise is still going strong. After the successful Young Sheldon, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage was also a major success, and will return with Season 2. Aside from the prequel spinoffs, the show will continue with a fourth series and the first spinoff sequel: Stuart Fails to Save the Universe.
The spinoff was announced in April 2023, and it took over a year until it was confirmed that the new offshoot will bring back Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman), as well as Denise (Lauren Lapkus), and Bert Kibbler (Brian Posehn).
The spinoff recently received an exciting filming update, with Stuart Fails to Save the Universe kicking off production in mid-September. The announcement also introduced the first logo for the new series. Stuart Fails to Save the Universe doesn’t have a release date.
