Gordon Ramsay Battles Skin Cancer — But Refuses to Slow Down With New TV Shows and a Fiery London Restaurant

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has revealed that he recently underwent surgery to remove a basal cell carcinoma, a common form of skin cancer, after doctors discovered a growth under his left ear. The 58-year-old culinary icon shared the news with his fans on Instagram, posting a photo of his bandaged face and warning followers to take sun protection seriously.

“Please don’t forget your sunscreen,” Ramsay wrote in his caption, adding in his trademark humor, “I promise you it’s not a facelift!” He thanked the “incredible” team of doctors who acted quickly to remove the cancerous growth and encouraged his millions of followers to prioritize skin checks and sun safety.

The health scare comes as Ramsay remains busier than ever in his career. Later this fall, he will launch Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars, a new Apple TV+ docuseries that takes viewers inside the secretive world of Michelin inspectors. As an executive producer, Ramsay promises to lift the curtain on one of the culinary industry’s most mysterious processes.

In addition, Ramsay is expanding his restaurant empire with the first-ever Hell’s Kitchen restaurant in the UK, opening soon at The Cumberland hotel near London’s Marble Arch. Designed to replicate the fiery energy of his hit TV show, the venue will feature an open kitchen where guests can watch chefs in action while enjoying the brand’s signature dishes.

On television, Ramsay is also keeping busy with multiple projects. He continues to front FOX’s hit Next Level Chef, now heading into its fourth season, while also appearing as a judge on MasterChef: Dynamic Duos. He is further developing Gordon Ramsay’s Secret Service, a new reality format where he infiltrates restaurants to uncover hidden problems and push for dramatic transformations.
