Iain Armitage stunned fans with his latest Instagram pics.
The Young Sheldon alum sported round, silver-framed glasses while making a kissy face in new selfies posted on Instagram on Sunday, Sept. 28. The snaps show the 17-year-old actor appearing more like a young man, opposite of the boy fans have seen on screen.
“Incomprehensible drip from 1823,” Armitage wrote in the caption.
Armitage’s comments were flooded with fans’ shocked reactions.
“Our young Sheldon is not so young anymore,” a fan commented.
“Oh Sheldon! You have grown up so fast!” wrote another.
Some fans even compared Armitage to a young Tom Cruise, with one writing, “The next Tom Cruise.” Another wrote, “So handsome! Why do I see a bit of Tom Cruise from Top Gun here???”
Other commenters praised the young actor for his growth.
“We all watched you grow from an adorable kiddo with lots of sass to a handsome young man with a bright future,” a fan wrote. “I think we’re all feeling proud of you in our hearts.”
Fans have seen Armitage grow up right before their eyes. He captured the hearts of longtime fans of The Big Bang Theory in his role as young Sheldon Cooper in the spinoff, prequel series.
When Young Sheldon premiered in September 2017, Armitage was just 9 years old. He was 8 when he first auditioned for what he later called the “most fun job in the world.”
“I’m sure it seems like hard work, but I’ve been so lucky. It’s the easiest, most fun job in the world,” the actor told PEOPLE in October 2024 when speaking on the show ending. “I get to play for a living, and I feel so honored and lucky to get to do that.”
Young Sheldon ended in May 2024, when Armitage was 15 years old. When speaking to PEOPLE in February 2024 about growing up on the series’ set, he said, “It’s been half my life, which is kind of wild to think about, but just so fun, so wonderful, and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to grow up.”

“Every single person I get to work with, I feel so honored to get to be working with,” Armitage continued. “And get to be their costar or … get to be part of their work and part of their livelihood.”
Following Young Sheldon‘s conclusion, Armitage has been enjoying time with family, auditioning for roles and working toward his pilot’s license.

“I just got my pilot’s license, or my student pilot’s license,” he told PEOPLE in October 2024. “I hopefully will get my private [pilot’s license] when I’m 17. And I’ve been having a bunch of fun flying while I’m here in L.A.”
Young Sheldon is streaming in full on HBO Max and Netflix.
