Each week this season, The Golden Bachelor host Jesse Palmer will answer a few questions about Mel’s “journey” to find “love.” Today, Jesse shares his thoughts via email about the comedy roast group date, Susan and Kathy’s raunchy sleepover, and more.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: The women did not hold back at the roast date. I was on set that night, and we just have to talk about Amy’s monologue. We only saw a brief portion of it in the episode, so how would you describe the experience of watching her six-minute set to viewers at home who didn’t see it in its full, bonkers glory?
JESSE PALMER: Amy’s monologue was hilarious, it was entertaining, and it was also completely confusing! There was a moment where she was only wearing one shoe. I don’t think there was one actual joke aimed at Mel or any of the other women. In fact, I think she roasted herself multiple times!
You didn’t get to deliver any of your own jokes at the roast, so now’s your chance. Please give us your best Mel roast.
“Mel Owens — the man hit harder on the field than his fashion sense ever hit on The Golden Bachelor. Those black shoes don’t help him move any better either — he moves around like a fax machine trying to load in 1979.”
Kathy and Susan dropped by the mansion to host a slumber party for the ladies. Which shocked you more: Gerri’s mile-high club revelation during the game of “never have I ever” or the “personal massagers” Kathy and Susan gave out as party favors?
Kathy and Susan showing up with party favors was a given — you saw that coming from a mile away. Gerri’s surprise revelation ended up being a major highlight of the slumber party!
Debbie got this week’s one-on-one date with Mel. I simply cannot believe this fabulous woman has never been married. Can we just agree right now that she should be the next Golden Bachelorette if things don’t work out with Mel?
It’s a big IF, but if things don’t work out for her, Debbie would be a phenomenal choice — she’s so caring and has been selfless her entire life. I know she has been searching for love, and she deserves to find it!
The smooches were flying fast and furious during the cocktail party. Is there a supply of Listerine on hand at the mansion to keep everyone’s breath fresh?
We needed to plant mouthwash all over the mansion. Nobody was holding back!
The Golden Bachelor airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
