Gerri Flowers got Mel Owen’s first-impression rose on the first episode of the “Golden Bachelor,” so Bachelor Nation was shocked to see her eliminated in episode 4.
Gerri took some time to chat with the team on “Playing the Field: A Bachelor Podcast” and reflected on her time at the mansion and her connection with Mel.
“Right off the bat, I was like, wow, he’s handsome, very handsome, and he had this twinkle in his eye, and he was very inviting. He put his hands out, and I went right to him, right to him that first night. I really did, yeah,” she said.
Gerri said that she and the other women inside Bachelor Mansion really hit it off.
“It was just like being a constant slumber party, if you will. It was just fun. We had ladies that wanted to cook. I was like, ‘I can clean. You cook. I’ll clean.’ I did it all my life with my children.”
Gerri lost her husband at a young age and raised her children after his death on her own. One of her four children passed away when Gerri was in her 20s.
“I had a sick, very sick son who I took care of in my 20s, who passed away. So I didn’t have that college experience. My children have it, and I wanted them to have that. I was able to get that 40 years later, 40 years later,” she said.
But now, she’s ready to meet someone and to focus on herself.
“It is my time. I give 150% and anyone said, if you said, ‘What’s special about Gerri Flowers?’ they would say, ‘she’s a giver. She gives unconditionally.’ And now I am ready. I’ve given so much, and it’s truly my time,” Gerri said.
The experience on the “Golden Bachelor” has helped her figure out what she wants.
“You know, I’m looking for someone. They’ve got to be God fearing. That is really key to me and a good heart. Easy on the eye, ladies…kind of fit, got to be easy on the eyes. That like, wants to have fun, whatever that looks like. May it be sitting there, indulging me in my Hallmark movies that I love to watch, or let’s go into a concert, or let’s go dancing, or let’s go walk in the park… Family is extremely important to me, extremely so that would have to play into it a lot, and just a caring person and ready for love as well. That’s the other piece. They have to be ready,” Gerri said.
This isn’t the last we’ll be seeing of Gerri. She’ll be on “The Women Tell All” episode that’s still to come this season.
