Days of Our Lives Recap for October 20, 2025.
On today’s Days of Our Lives recap:
University Hospital – Lobby: Sarah receives a notification about missing teen, Sophia Choi. Just then, EJ approaches and Sarah asks for a word. He tries to get away but she needs to talk about the back up at the lab. They are understaffed because EJ refuses to pay a competitive wage. He tries to blow her off but says patients dying on his watch will be bad PR. EJ promises to look into it but also notes Sarah needs to back down.
Sarah and EJ go back and forth about financial necessities and quality of care. They both agree they want the free clinic to open but Sarah only wants it if everyone receives the highest quality of care. EJ takes the opportunity to ask her if she would be a featured speaker at the gala being planned to open the clinic bearing her grandfather’s name.
Horton Square: Holly and Tate are going over their knowledge of the French Revolution. They decide to head over to the pub for a brainstorming session. Just then, Leo and Javi approach with Little T in tow. They ask about Sophia and are told Little T is, in fact, Sophia’s baby and Tate is not the father. They all want to find Sophia to get answers, but Johnny and Chanel need her as CPS requires an explanation for the mass chaos. With that, Holly and Tate head off to the pub.
Tate and Javi note Sophia will have a lot of explaining to do. Chanel walks up and notes if she is ever found. They say they just heard about everything. She hopes Sophia turns up before they lose their chance to adopt Little T. Chanel approaches the crib and tells the baby how hard they are working towards becoming his parents. Javi and Leo admit how hard it’s going to be to give the baby up but know Johnny and Chanel will be amazing parents. Just then, Chanel gets a text from Johnny about Sophia’s reemergence.
Brady Pub: Outside, Mama Choi walks up on Johnny and smacks him upside the head. She explains her daughter has run away based on accusations for which she blames him. Johnny understands why she is upset but says Sophia did many despicable things. Mama Choi thinks what is despicable is publicly making up lies about an 18 year-old girl. She suggests he retract them before she and her husband take him to court (second mention of dad in a very short period). With that, Mama Choi storms off. Before she walks to far away, Johnny sees Sophia through the window of the pub.
Inside, Brady calls Roman who says Sophia may be hiding out in the empty room upstairs. Steve and Brady head upstairs and unlock the door.
Brady Pub – Apartment: Brady and Steve enter as Sophia is frantically packing up her things. She freaks out and makes very little sense. Steve says they just wanted to make sure she was okay and says how many people are worried about her.
Brady Pub: Mama Choi runs in an embraces her daughter as Steve tells Brady to take over. She asks where her daughter has been and Brady says she was hiding out upstairs, as Tate and Holly enter. Mama Choi presses and Sophia admits her mother doesn’t know anything about her.
Sophia admits she gave birth alone in her room. She knew if her mother or Tate found out about it before there were adoptive parents she would be forced to raise a baby she didn’t want. Sophia screams at Johnny for backing out of the adoption before moving forward and saying she took the baby to the firehouse and left him there.
Brady Pub – Outside: Leo wants to go in with Little T but Javi is hesitant. Leo says they have every right to be in that room as they are and have been responsible for this baby for a long time. They both tear up as they discuss the reality of knowing their time with Little T is coming to a close and promise to take care of each other in the aftermath.
Brady Pub – Inside: Mama Choi can’t believe what her daughter has been through. Tate, Holly, Brady, Johnny and Chanel don’t really care and demand answers all at the same time. Just then, Javi and Leo walk in with Little T. When Mama Choi heads over and asks if this is her grandchild. Sophia begins to lose it. She screams she can’t take it, begins to smack herself on the head and falls to the ground.
Javi runs over and tells everyone to back off. He cradles Sophia’s head in his palms and tries to gently rouse her awake. She opens her eyes with a dull stare and does not respond to anyone’s prompts.
University Hospital – Lobby: Mama Choi and Brady wheel in what appears to be a catatonic Sophia. Sarah wheels her off to an exam room.
Brady sits down with Mama Choi, and she thanks him and Steve for finding her daughter. She still doesn’t understand what happened over the past year to make her daughter someone unrecognizable. Brady says they do their best as parents but shouldn’t blame themselves. With that, Mama Choi heads off to call her husband.
Chanel and Johnny arrive and Brady updates them.
Horton Square: Leo is sitting with Little T when EJ approaches. He asks about the baby and Leo makes mention of the complicated situation with Johnny and Chanel’s adoption.
Holly and Tate take a seat with Steve. They discuss the entire situation with Sophia. Holly finds some compassion as Steve notes how much pressure Sophia has clearly been under. Tate apologizes to Holly for everything and hates he spent so much time looking for a child that wasn’t his. Steve asks if he filled in Theresa who is relieved as she is too young to be a grandmother. With that, Tate thanks his uncle before Steve makes his exit.
Holly thinks back to a time when she and Sophia were best friends. She thinks their sneaking around was what originally sent Sophia off the rails. They both feel horrible for their parts in everything.
University Hospital – Exam Room: Sarah tries to get through to Sophia as she stares into the distance. She asks if Sophia can hear her with no reactions whatsoever.
Endings
Sarah walks out and says physically, Sophia is fine. Mama Choi inquires, and Sarah says it appears she has suffered a psychological break resulting in a condition called “selective mutism.” Sarah also thinks it is possible postpartum depression was a contributing factor. With that, Sarah escorts Mama Choi to Sophia’s room.
Chanel worries Sophia’s new condition will prevent them from being able to adopt Little T. Just then, EJ approaches and offers to help. Chanel says he can’t and pulls Johnny away.
Brady runs into Sarah who apologizes for having to keep Sophia’s confidence. She is relieved the truth came out. Sarah feels so sorry for all the pressure Sophia was feeling and Brady wonders what’s next.
Mama Choi strokes her daughter’s hair as she blankly stares forward. She wishes she knew how much anguish her daughter was in and would do anything to trade places. She promises to do everything she can to make things better.
