HE’S BACK! Station 19 star to return to Grey’s Anatomy after finale as producers try to ‘figure out a way’ to avoid cancellation

A GREY’S Anatomy alum has been picked to return to the show after seven years away.

He became part of the drama’s spinoff show, Station 19, which was canceled this year.

Jason George played Dr. Ben Warren on both shows.

He has been a part of Grey’s Anatomy since Season 6 and continues to play a recurring role.

However, Jason, 52, left the show as a main star in 2017 to become a series regular on Station 19, which housed a lot of the same characters.

Station 19 aired its series finale on Thursday night, after it was canceled in December.

The finale helped set up Jason’s return to Grey’s, as he was ready to head back to the operating room.

A source revealed to Deadline that “there is no deal in place and the exact capacity in which Jason would return to Grey’s Anatomy is unclear but talks are ongoing.”

“The intent is to have him back full-time on the show.”

Ben has always had a personal connection to Grey’s as he is married to Dr. Miranda Bailey, played by Chandra Wilson.

He was also using his medical background more on the final season of Station 19.

‘FIGURE OUT A WAY’

After the series finale, the showrunners Zoanne Clack and Peter Paige expressed that they would like to continue with Station 19 because they have a lot more stories to tell.

They spoke with People about a way to possible save the show.

“I think we’d happily go back into these waters,” Peter said after being asked about a possible pickup.

“There was one moment when it felt like there was a realistic possibility someone was going to come step in, and then that went away. Then it felt like, ‘Okay, we need to honor what is here to be honored.'”

However, he shared that is someone comes to her and says they want to revamp the show, he and Zoanne would “figure out a way.”

SOUND THE ALARM

ABC decided to cancel Station 19 after seven seasons.

The series was based on the lives of those at the Seattle Fire Station 19

However, they let fans have one more season to wrap everything up before they said goodbye.

During its last season, Station 19 reached over 100 episodes.

The drama starred Jason, Jaina Lee Ortiz, Barrett Doss, Grey Damon, and more.

Zoanne also told TVLine in April that she will “happily go wherever it goes” as the drama was being shopped to Netflix.

“We would happily, happily, happily do another season if there were an opportunity to do it,” Peter added.

Fans have rallied online for the show to be saved, but so fare their cries have not been heard.

Every season of Station can be watched on Hulu.
