Bachelor Nation fans first watched Gerry Turner search for love on the debut season of “The Golden Bachelor.”
He got engaged to and later married Theresa Nist, but the two ultimately decided to part ways.
A few months ago, Gerry revealed on the “Bachelor Happy Hour: Golden Hour” podcast that he had since found love off-screen and hard-launched his new relationship with girlfriend Lana Sutton online.
And earlier this month, Gerry took to social media to share the exciting news that he and Lana are officially engaged!
Now, the former Golden Bachelor is opening up on the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast about his engagement to Lana and why he doesn’t feel like it’s “too soon.”
Chatting with Susan Noles and Kathy Swarts, Gerry confessed, “For me, I don’t want to sound disrespectful at all, I don’t think of myself as being divorced. It was such a short time… that yeah, I have to stop myself and say, ‘Yeah, you know what? I am divorced.’”
The Golden Bachelor Nation star then addressed the comment about his and Lana’s engagement being “too soon” and why he feels like it’s not.
He expressed, “It’s not like I’m that guy that was married 43 years and then did nothing. I am divorced. But the comment of it being ‘too soon’ has never come to me. That question has not been asked. There are some things that are timeless, and I think one of them is when you meet the right person, you don’t even think about where it fits on the timeline. It’s just when it’s right, it’s right.”
Gerry also revealed that his and Lana’s relationship quickly got serious right from the beginning.
“It was from the start,” he shared, “I mean it’s getting close to eight months since we met; neither of us have stopped smiling. It was that good right from the get-go. And you know you have to kind of be cautious and is this for real and all of that. But man, it is, it really is.”
