Ransom Canyon Season 2 is officially in production, and a major new star is joining the cast. The hit Netflix romance drama — based on Jodi Thomas’ novels and starring Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly — follows the tangled lives, loves, and land feuds of a Texas ranching town.
Golden Globe and Emmy winner Patricia Clarkson has signed on for a guest role as Claire O’Grady, Quinn’s (Kelly) mother, described as “maternal but self-involved.” Clarkson’s addition comes as Season 2 moves forward without Eoin Macken and Andrew Liner, who played Davis and Reid Collins in Season 1.
An Oscar nominee for Pieces of April, Clarkson is known for her acclaimed performances in Six Feet Under, Sharp Objects, The Green Mile, and Easy A.
What Patricia Clarkson’s Casting Means for Ransom Canyon Season 2

Alongside Patricia Clarkson’s debut as Claire O’Grady, Quinn’s (Minka Kelly) self-involved yet caring mother, actors Ben Robson and Heidi Engerman have joined the series in undisclosed recurring roles. The upcoming season will continue the power struggles between rival ranchers in the Texas Hill Country, with new faces shaking up the town’s fragile balance of love and loyalty.

Series creator April Blair returns as showrunner and executive producer, alongside Dan Angel, Bradley Gardner, Josh Duhamel, and Minka Kelly, with production currently underway in New Mexico.
Blair teased what’s ahead, saying:
“We’re thrilled to be back and can’t wait to turn up the steam, the drama, and the romance that Ransom Canyon fans have grown to love.”
Clarkson’s arrival hints at more personal storytelling in Season 2, potentially exploring Quinn’s family history and adding fresh emotional tension after the exits of Eoin Macken and Andrew Liner.
Our Take on Ransom Canyon’s Return

Ransom Canyon rode strong out of the gate, topping Netflix’s charts and quickly securing a renewal. The romantic Western drama has proven there’s still a big audience for sweeping small-town stories filled with love, loss, and land feuds.
After years of Netflix searching for its own Yellowstone-style hit, Ransom Canyon might finally be it — and with Season 2 now in production, the series has all the right pieces to build on the momentum of its emotional first-season finale.
