Life for Georgie Cooper just isn’t the same without George Sr.
The latest episode of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, a spinoff of Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory, featured a scene in the family dining room that hadn’t been used since Sheldon, which ended in May 2024.
“It’s incredible, because we’re on a completely different stage now,” Montana Jordan, who appeared on Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, and now on Georgie & Mandy, told TV Line of stepping back into that world. “Anything that you see that was on Young Sheldon was rebuilt on a completely different stage — and how well did they do it? I mean, you watched it! You can’t even tell it’s different. You feel like it’s on the same stage, the same place as it was last time.”
There was a major difference, though: actor Lance Barber, who portrayed Georgie’s dad, George Sr., wasn’t at the head of the table. The character died of a heart attack near the conclusion of that series.

When asked if it was weird not seeing Barber at the head of the table, Jordan answered in the affirmative.
“It always is, man,” he said. “Anytime there’s not a pile of food on the other end of the table, we know Lance is missing somewhere.”
The episode also gave Jordan the chance to work with former costars Raegan Revord and Zoe Perry, both of whom have returned to their respective roles as his sister, Missy, and mom, Mary, this season.
“Anytime that we get to have any of the Cooper family back on set, it’s always a blast,” Jordan said. “We had a great family dynamic behind the scenes on that show, as we do on this show, so anytime we can bring them back, we’re always welcoming them.”
Young Sheldon depicted the early years of Sheldon Cooper, the main character in The Big Bang Theory. Jim Parsons played Georgie’s younger brother Sheldon on that hit from 2007 to 2019. Georgie & Mandy, of course, hones in on Georgie’s story.
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage airs Thursday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
