Good news: Blue Bloods star Marisa Ramirez is pregnant with her second child! md20

When Blue Bloods was canceled, many fans were not happy about the decision to end the show that was called “the best new cop show” on its debut back in 2010. Someone else who believed it was not justified was star, Tom Selleck. Even now, with spinoff series Boston Blue continuing the show’s legacy, the veteran actor still hasn’t come to terms with it, and isn’t sure if he would really want a part of the new show.

Selleck played Frank Reagan across all 14 seasons of the show between 2010 and 2024, starring alongside Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, Marisa Ramirez, and Len Cariou among others. Playing out as both a standard cop show and a family drama, the series was a popular addition to CBS’ line-up, and Selleck still doesn’t understand why the show was canceled while it was still a consistent performer. He told Hour Detroit:

“It was a huge disappointment, and I still don’t know why CBS did it. When we went off the air, we were the No. 6 show out of 100 on broadcast television. It was actually No. 9, but if you get rid of the football, we were the sixth most popular series in all of television. I’ve been on a lot of sets that were miserable, where the cast didn’t like each other, but in Blue Bloods, everyone was professional and everyone liked each other. That is so rare.”

Would Tom Selleck Join Donnie Wahlberg in ‘Boston Blue’?

It is almost a month since Boston Blue debuted on CBS, expanding the Blue Bloods universe with Donnie Wahlberg’s Danny Reagan relocating to the Boston PD in an attempt to stay connected to his son, Sean, a rookie cop in the city’s police force. After the ending of Blue Bloods, it seemed that Boston Blue would take things in a whole new direction, but several stars of the old series, such as Bridget Moynahan and Marisa Ramirez, have already made appearances in the spinoff. Does this mean we will see Selleck turning up too? He said:

“I don’t know if I would do Boston Blue — that’s another show. I think it’s partly my lot in life to make sure Blue Bloods has its place in television history, but I don’t think it’s my lot in life to keep playing Frank Reagan. I can’t predict the future. But I would like to do a comedy because I’ve done a few that were successful.”

If Boston Blue continues on for several seasons, then the likelihood of Selleck making an appearance in the series will probably increase, but fans shouldn’t expect him to become any kind of series regular. It is clear that the actor still doesn’t really understand why the decision was made to end Blue Bloods, and this becomes even less clear when considering Boston Blue is essentially the same show, set in a different city, without Selleck. Perhaps, it is not surprising that Selleck now just wants to do his own thing, and remember the series as a great thing he did in the past.
