The pressure’s cooking on Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars and in Episode 4, they’ve brought in the big guns.
Hosts Gordon Ramsay and Janine Allis have called in two phenomenal world class chefs to help their teams pull off their biggest challenge yet.
“Desperate” for a win, Gordon explains the mammoth task ahead.
“All of our businesses depend on reviews,” he begins.
In 24 hours, the teams will be transforming an empty space into an exclusive one-of-a-kind event that 40 esteemed food critics will be reviewing.
“It’s a tall order, but don’t worry, you’re not on your own,” Janine continues.
The teams are brainstorming and Team Janine are off to a confident start landing on a underground Parisian theme.
Team Janine think they’re a shoo-in and Janine worries they’re being a “bit cocky”.
Confidence crumbles for Team Janine
It seems Team Janine have been a little too confident. With time running out and their budget maxed out, they’ve had to make drastic cuts to their big styling ideas.
“Right now, it looks like a dodgy café going out of business,” Janine slams.
But their problems don’t stop there. Danny has taken the lead on booking the entertainment and in a mad rush, books three acts online – sight unseen.
“Oh and they’ve got a mime,” Janine spills to Gordon, unsure exactly how she feels.
“A mime? This is the best news I’ve had all week,” laughs Gordon.
“Guess this mime,” he teases. “It’s Janine’s team in the sh-t.”
Janine’s Parisian nightmare
While chef Scott Pickett has done wonders to come up with a decadent French menu, Team Janine scramble to fix their styling “shambles”.
“GUESTS INCOMING!” one contestant yells.
Danny hopes the “vibes and the entertainment” will be enough to pull them through. Ohhh spoke too soon…
“Holy f–k, oh he’s kissing the guests,” Gordon says, having a field day watching Janine’s team crumble. “What the f–k is this bullsh-t?”
Troy pulls off a “heartfelt” evening
Meanwhile, Team Gordon are facing the pressure to come up with their winning theme.
Coffee is Troy’s wheelhouse and he pitches his idea: “We are combining something seen never before… the origins of coffee with the origins of this country.”
It’s a no brainer. They love his “Origins” theme with the potential to immerse guests with a cultural experience and Indigenous flavours.
Their chef, Matt Moran is keen on the idea but makes on thing very clear.
“If I don’t get five star review from everyone, I’m not coming back,” Matt jokes.
Team Gordon deliver ambience, they deliver wow factor and by the end of the night they even have one guest and Troy in tears.
“I’m just so proud to be able to share our culture,” says a teary Troy. ”It’s overwhelming. I don’t think anyone in that room will ever forget that [experience].
Janine’s team “crash and burn”
For the first time, Team Janine face a grilling for their “unforgettable” event to say the least. Janine was “mortified” by her team’s effort and put it to them frankly.
“You spent six grand on atmosphere and there was no atmosphere,” she grills.
“There’s more atmosphere is a French fart,” Gordon pipes in.
“To my horror, one of the guests said Sophie went around to them.. making excuses why it wasn’t a good enough event. For me that’s sackable,” Janine continues.
With words like “sh-t show”, “debacle” and “inexcusable” being used to describe the evening, Janine points the finger to Mason, Danny and Sophie:
The room falls silent as Danny is sent home.
But the competition isn’t over yet. Tomorrow night, the contestants will take on the most famous brands on the planet as the rivalry between Gordon and Janine continues.
Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars continues Tuesday at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
