STATION 19 has made a major cast shakeup just months before the show ends for good.
Jack Gibson was injured on the show leaving fans fearing that he will not return.
On the Season seven premiere of Station 19, a doctor revealed to captain Andy that his fellow first-responder and ex-lover, Jack, might make a full recovery.
However, Doctor Shepherd went on to say that Jack will not be cleared to go back to work as a firefighter.
Jack, played by Grey Damon, received a big blow to his head on the Season six finale, which found him in the hospital.
Showrunner Peter Paige told TVLine, “It was really important to me that we explore what it is to let go of a dream, and there is something about Jack Gibson, about his openness and vulnerability, that makes him a really compelling vehicle to explore [that with].”
“We have beaten the s**t out of the poor man, literally physically, and at a certain point you just have to acknowledge that that’s going to have a price,” executive producer Zoanne Clack added.
Jack not only can’t do the job he loves anymore, but he has endured a lot of hardships in his life.
He was given up by his birth parents and spent most of his young life in foster care, had a tree fall on him, and has been unlucky with relationships.
This storyline may be a way to wrap up Jack’s time on the show as Station 19 is ending this season.

One fan shared the quotes from the TVLine article to X, formerly Twitter, and raged against their decision.
“… How can you be so cruel with a character that you write?! I don’t understand. JACK DESERVES BETTER,” one person wrote.
“JACK BETTER BE OKAY THAT IS ALL I HAVE TO SAY, I WILL NOT FINISH S7 WITHOUT HIM,” tweeted another.
“It’s so sad Jack can’t be a fire fighter anymore!! I am excited to see where they take his character,” a third added.
“Are they about to kill off Jack? I know the show is ending but Bishop is right there,” a viewer wondered.
“Before I start, I just hope to God they don’t kill Jack. It’s all I ask for,” begged another.
FIRE’S OUT
Earlier this month, the Station 19 showrunners revealed how the cast found out the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff was ending.
The new showrunners admitted that they barely broke in their offices before they got the sad news.
“We were what, two days into shooting the new episodes?” Zoanne told TVLine.
“And we got the call.”
Peter said that a big staff meeting was held to tell the cast about the fate of the show.
He said it was the “world’s saddest meeting” and Zoanne admitted that tears were shed.
“Basically, we got the news and were like, ‘Get the cast in, get the writers, get the crew assembled… Make sure they’re all going to meet us at lunch!’ Then we raced, raced, raced to tell them before there were any leaks,” he said.
“Knowing that the drama is coming to an end, did help Zoanne and Peter give Station 19 a proper send off.”
However, they told the outlet that there were some storylines that they had to scrap.
“There was a really complex arson storyline that we’d never done on the show,” Peter said.
“We had to say, ‘OK, well, that’s going to be a Season Never story.'”
The last season will have 10 episodes that will air on ABC.
