Chicago Fire Fans Lose It Over Taylor Kinney’s Unexpected TikTok Moment md18

Chicago Fire fans are losing their minds over Taylor Kinney’s take on the viral Beez in the Trap TikTok trend.

Chicago Fire might not be back until the new year, but Miranda Rae Mayo has given fans a new behind-the-scenes video that is certain to lift fans’ spirits amid the show’s current hiatus.

One of the biggest trends taking off on social media in recent weeks has been the viral remix of 4 Non Blondes’ “What’s Up?” and Nicki Minaj’s “Beez in the Trap.” The viral mashup was first shared by TikTok creator DJ Auxlord in August, before becoming a viral sensation in October with the mashup having inspired over 700,000 videos featuring the song and inspired some of the biggest names in Hollywood to join the trend.

For the trend, two individuals typically stand back-to-back as the camera circles around them with the first person lip-syncing to a snippet of “What’s Up?” before the second individual lip-syncs along to Minaj’s “Beez in the Trap.” However, the Chicago Fire stars decided to put their own spin on the trend resulting in a hilarious final product.

In the video shot by Mayo and shared by Chicago Fire Chief Lighting Technician Anthony Lullo on Instagram, Mayo managed to convince her costars Taylor Kinney and David Eigenberg to put their own spin on the trend. The video opens with Kinney as he lip-syncs to the 4 Non Blondes portion of the mashup while sitting inside one of the show’s fire trucks, before taking the action to outside the truck as Eigenberg does his best to lip-sync to Minaj’s portion of the mashup.

While Kinney and Eigenberg’s take on the trend was certainly unique, fans were absolutely obsessed with seeing the duo take on the viral trend.

“The fact that you got [Taylor] to do a TikTok is amazing, Miranda! Bravo,” commented one user. This was a sentiment shared by many fans, who were absolutely thrilled to see Kinney partake in the viral trend. While Kinney is on social media, he doesn’t post content often and he’s not exactly known for partaking in viral social media trends. The fact that Mayo managed to convince him to give the trend a try is indeed a major victory.

Of course, after seeing the video, fans were also quick to express their desire to see Mayo recreate the trend with Kinney. We can’t say we disagree with the fans, as it would be so fun to see Stellaride team up to tackle the viral video together. But hey, we’re not complaining as we never expected to see Kinney partaking in this social trend and it’s certainly a fun surprise for fans to enjoy during the show’s fall break!

Chicago Fire season 14 continues Wednesday, January 7, 2026, on NBC!
