‘Roseanne’ Star Sara Gilbert’s Lookalike Son, 9, Appears in Dress & Heels at Red Carpet, Igniting Buzz

Sara Gilbert’s lookalike son attended an event with his mom, Linda Perry, wearing a dress and shoes that had a short heel. Aside from comments made about the striking resemblance Rhodes Gilbert Perry shares with Sara, many wondered about the gender of the child who inherited his mom’s creative genes.

Iconic musician Linda Perry, 59, set the red carpet ablaze at the premiere of her musical documentary “Linda Perry: Let It Die Here,” on June 6. Accompanying her was a special and adorable guest: the nine-year-old she shares with her famous ex Sara Gilbert. Rhodes Emilio Gilbert Perry’s appearance caught the public’s attention.

Matching Linda’s superstar energy, Rhodes wore a uniquely designed long-sleeved black dress that was detailed with gold patterns all over. The outfit was paired with black tights and sparkly block-heel boots.
Rhodes completed the ensemble with a gold necklace, and black gloves and walked the red carpet with a cute furry plush toy.

Linda, who took pictures with her beloved child at the Tribeca Festival, opted for an all-black look, rocking a big hat, leather jacket, black pants, and platform boots.

She also paired her ensemble with pretty gold necklaces. Photos of the duo prompted a wave of comments pointing out the distinct similarity Rhodes shares with Sara.

“He looks like Sara,” observed a Facebooker while another agreed and reiterated, “He definitely looks like [her].” A fan who was simply pleased to see the mother and son in photos together, gushed, “Cute pic. Smart woman. God Bless you Linda and Rhodes.”

On the other hand, other people expressed confusion concerning why Rhodes was wearing a dress as a boy. “That’s a boy dressed up like a girl? 😮” pondered a social media user. In response, someone else wrote, “It’s Rhodes Emilio Gilbert Perry. He’s dressed appropriately for this venue.”

Still, more queries ensued, with another person questioning, “Son or Daughter?! 😯” Replying to this comment, someone else defended, “It doesn’t matter as long as the child is happy and healthy.”

For those who may be perplexed regarding the gender Rhodes identifies with, Linda gave a hint in the title of one of her YouTube videos.

Two days ago (June 8, 2024) the “Spaceman” artist posted an endearing video of her performing her legendary song, “What’s Up” with Rhodes. She titled the post: “Linda Perry – What’s Up (featuring my daughter Rhodes).”

Additionally, a photographer who was in attendance that same night Linda and Rhodes performed shared a video of the two and referred to Rhodes as a girl in her caption.

“Are you kidding me? If Linda’s incredible performance wasn’t enough to bring you to tears – this sure did ! Linda and daughter Rhodes grand finale last night @reallindaperry @tribecafilmfest,” penned Heidi.

More important than just clarifying gender, Linda and Heidi’s posts showed that little Rhodes might be following in Linda’s musical footsteps. The kid gave a passionate and impressive rendition of “What’s Up” toward the end of the song, surely making the doting mom proud.

While at the premiere of her documentary as part of the Tribeca Festival, Linda revealed that Rhodes has also developed a knack for his other mom’s profession: acting. She noted that the nine-year-old “loves acting.”

Linda shares joint custody of Rhodes with the “Roseanne” star after the former couple called it quits in August 2019, before finalizing their divorce two years later. Prior to their split, they welcomed Rhodes on February 28, 2015, a year after they tied the knot.

Rhodes’ birth was first publicized on a past episode of “The Talk.” At this time, Sara was still a co-host on the show along with TV personality, Julie Chen. “Our very own Sara and her wife Linda Perry are the proud parents of a new baby boy,” Julie previously announced.

Although this was the first child the former pair had welcomed together, they were already parents to Sara’s two children, Levi and Sawyer Gilbert-Adler. Levi and Sawyer were born from Sara’s previous relationship with her ex-partner Allison Adler.

As a juxtaposition to her typically private nature and demure presence, Sara opened up about her and Linda’s experience becoming parents. She shared her thoughts at the Family Equality Council’s 2016 LA Impact Awards where she and Linda were being honored.

“In my life, I was lucky enough to have two children before I met Linda and then we became a family. And I knew when we got married that Linda needed a baby, that even though we were a family—all of us, the four of us—she needed to follow a little soul from day one,” Sara previously disclosed.

“The Conners” actress then spoke about the close bond Linda and Rhodes forged after the baby was born. “They are so madly in love, it’s amazing, and I look at their relationship and I look at these children and I just think, ‘How is it possible that some people are denied that?’ It’s just unbelievable,” Sara continued.

Two years after her speech where she divulged some details about Linda and their family, Sara sat down for an interview with a media outlet. Here she spoke about becoming more comfortable with sharing information about her personal life.

“My first instinct will be like, ‘No, I don’t want to do that,’ I’ve learned that it’s better to push against that and just try it,” she explained. Ending her statement, Sara added, “If it stays no, that’s fine. But a lot of times as you start engaging in a process you’re like, ‘Oh, actually this is fun.'”
