After a dramatic season finale, Owens handed his final rose to Munson after Cullers chose to go home. Ahead of the final rose ceremony, Owens selected a 3.5-carat ring for Munson but didn’t propose. Instead, he expressed his commitment to her.
“This represents our commitment to love, to give us time to figure out together what our future holds,” he told Munson while presenting her with the ring.
So, are The Golden Bachelor Mel Owens and Peg Munson still together? Here’s everything they’ve shared about their current relationship status.
Did Mel Owens get engaged?
Owens and Munson chose to commit to each other, rather than get engaged, in Antigua during The Golden Bachelor season 2 finale, which was filmed over the summer and aired Nov. 12. During the episode, Owens’ family met Munson, and both of his sons gave their stamp of approval.
“I think you’re the perfect gal for my dad, because the energy, you bring him up, like the uplifting [energy] It’s great,” they said, adding, “I love Peg. She’s super fun, very personable. I can talk to her like my friend, she’s great. I really like her. Good vibe.”
Owens’ sons met with Munson after his other contestant, Cullers, shockingly self-eliminated ahead of their night in the Fantasy Suite. Cullers left after questioning Owens’ feelings towards her and realizing that he didn’t want to propose for a few years.
“I cannot believe what I’m listening to. I gave him every opportunity to say, ‘Just be patient with me. I’m falling for you.’ And he still could even go there. He’s like, ‘Just wait for two years. Let me see where I am in two years.’ I’m sorry, but if you find a person that makes a good partner, that’s your time to commit,” she said.
“He’s not interested in making any type of commitments for several years. I’m in my golden years. I’m 60 years old, and I’m not interested in being put on hold. He is just not my person,” Cullers added.
Shortly after she left the show, Owens broke the news to Munson, and although she was initially “nervous about what he’s looking for,” she decided to stay.
The couple later met at the beach for a romantic commitment conversation. He gave her a ring with over 30 diamonds and spoke about his love for her.
“I reflect on our journey, and I’ve learned a lot of things, listening, and loving,” he told her. “I listen to you talk about your family and what it means to you and all the sacrifices that you made. I know you would protect them at any cost. I wouldn’t invite your family into my family, you know? I trusted you. You trusted me, and you told me you had confidence in me that I’d make the right choice, and here you are.”
Munson accepted the ring and his dedication to her and said, “He’s not for everybody, but we’re definitely for each other.”

Are Owens and Munson still together?
Both Owens and Munson appeared on the live “After the Final Rose” special on Nov. 12 where they shared an update on their relationship, since the second season wrapped four months ago. Owens and Munson told viewers that they are still together and are excited to go public with their romance.
“I am in love with her,” he said, while she added, “And I’m in love with him 100%.”
Munson further explained that their relationship “grew” both during and after the season 2 finale, and Owens reiterated the sentiment by saying their connection had progressed “very, very well.”
What have they said about their relationship since the finale?
The former football player and the former bomb technician have had to keep their relationship out of the spotlight over the last few months while The Golden Bachelor aired on ABC. However, during their interview on “After the Final Rose,” Owens and Munson said they now “get to be out and we get to share this.”
“I saw our love grow all the way through, and it’s special when it’s the right person,” Owens said. “We’ve spent some time together and we had moments together. We had some time and one thing that I love about her is the energy and the get up and go [attitude].”
The couple added that they are living in the moment and plan to travel to Owens’ hometown in Michigan, visit Las Vegas and Napa Valley and attend the upcoming Super Bowl.
When are Owens and Munson getting married?
Since committing to each other four months ago, the couple have been focusing on the present and expressed that they are in no rush to get engaged or married.
“You know what’s nice about being in your 60s and going through life, you get to write your own love story — and we’re on the same page,” Munson said. “That’s a love story the way that we get to do it, and to continue to grow our love, continue to spend time with our families and that’s the nice part about being in our 60s in your golden years is being able to do what you want to with that connection you have with someone.”
Owens was previously married to Fabiana Pimentel Owens for over two decades and previously expressed how he missed being in a long-term relationship.
“I was married for 25 years,” he said at a Hulu event in April 2025. “I’ve missed that companionship.”
