How Successful Has ‘Boston Blue’ Been for CBS?
The network announced the renewal as part of a broader shakeup for its genre-heavy Friday lineup, confirming that the Blue Bloods spin-off, and fellow Fall season newbit hit Sheriff Country have both been given early pickups. Both shows premiered on October 17 and quickly took control of their time slots across broadcast and streaming.
According to CBS’ multiplatform Live + 7 data, Boston Blue is averaging 8 million viewers, putting it right at the top of the night. The network also highlighted a particularly telling stat: streaming viewership for Boston Blue is up 87% compared to Blue Bloods in the same window last fall.
“Two new shows on Friday night have become instant hits with audiences quickly embracing Boston Blue and Sheriff Country across broadcast and streaming. These early renewals reflect the power of character-driven storytelling, compelling narratives and the exceptional talent on both sides of the camera that make these series truly stand out.”
Sheriff Country, a Fire Country spin-off fronted by Morena Baccarin, is no slouch either. It’s averaging 7.6 million viewers, a +33% improvement over the time period’s previous occupant, S.W.A.T., in the same metric.
Boston Blue airs Friday nights on CBS, with streaming available via Paramount+.
