This Overlooked Tracker Character Deserves A Major Season 3 Arc After Their Previous Show’s Cancellation

While it’s already one of the top-rated television shows, Tracker could fix at least one character’s role now that the actor’s other show is off the air. The Tracker season 2 finale sets up a lot of new clues regarding the death of Ashton Shaw, including the revelation of who committed the deed. This could set up more appearances from Colter’s family in Tracker season 3, although Jensen Ackles’ current schedule might make any potential appearances by Russell difficult to navigate.

Nonetheless, characters like Russell and Dory are far from the only ones who deserve increased episode counts going into the next season. The Shaw family certainly plays heavily into the biggest unanswered questions from Tracker season 2, but several other recurring characters have made marks on the series that could easily be revisited. For instance, the reveal that Colter and his friends are being monitored hasn’t paid off anywhere near its fullest capacity yet. Meanwhile, another underused character has been splitting time with another series.

Sofia Pernas Plays Recurring Roles In Both Tracker And Suits LA

Both Characters Even Appeared On The Same Night

Perhaps the mystery of Ashton Shaw’s death in Tracker may be the series’ most dramatic concern right now, but many fans must also be wondering what’s going on with Colter and Billie. Unfortunately, their hookup in season 2, episode 15, hasn’t been fully explored, which is likely due to scheduling. Although Sofia’s third episode of Tracker and fourth episode of Suits LA aired on the same night, that doesn’t mean doing both shows was easy to coordinate, even with Pernas appearing less frequently on Tracker.

Tracker season 2 had many characters working with Shaw. However, Velma Bruin’s role has declined, raising the question if she’ll be in season 3.

Considering Tracker season 2 is darker than season 1, her Suits LA character almost comes across as upbeat. Elizabeth Smith is a ruthless prosecutor who seems to have knowingly gotten an innocent man shanked in prison, but at least she doesn’t seem to have lost any sleep over it. Frankly, both of Sofia Pernas’ characters are morally complicated in interesting ways, which is a shame, as at least one of them will never be seen again. However, that void opens up a great opportunity.

Suits LA’s Cancelation Gives Pernas More Time To Play Billie In Tracker

There’s No Conflict If She Does A Longer Arc

Billie’s hookup with Colter near the end of Tracker season 2 seemed like it would warrant a subsequent appearance by the character within a reasonable timeframe, but the likelihood is Suits LA kept that from happening. Sofia Pernas’ Elizabeth Smith is integral to the plotline of the Suits LA series finale, and the fact that she appears somewhat briefly doesn’t mean that appearing on both shows wouldn’t be difficult to navigate. It goes without saying that two series on competing networks aren’t necessarily following the same production schedule.

Tracker: Everything We Know About The Shaw Family Mystery

It’s difficult to say just how much her participation in Suits LA might have interfered with her ability to appear on Tracker, but now that’s a non-issue either way. NBC canceled Suits LA after season 1, meaning that Pernas could much more easily appear in a multi-episode arc of Tracker without worrying about scheduling issues. She only appeared in one more episode of season 2 than she did in the first season, but her last season 2 episode spells out exactly why a longer arc for Billie is warranted.

Tracker Season 3 Is Already Set Up To Give Billie Matalon A Longer Story Arc

Her Relationship With Colter Is Getting Steamy

It seems likely that we’ll be getting fewer Russell Shaw appearances on Tracker in the near future, but Billie Matalon doesn’t need to suffer the same fate, thanks to Sofia’s lighter production schedule. More importantly, Tracker season 2 has already set up a major reason for Billie to reappear in season 3. The rival rewardists have always been flirtatious, but it was clear the moment her bathrobe hit the ground in her last appearance that things were starting to escalate between them in the best possible way.

I was late to Tracker season 2, so I binged all of it and it gave me a good perspective on the things that worked this season – and what didn’t.

With Justin Hartley and Sofia Pernas already married in real life, it makes sense for Billie to become Colter’s main romantic interest. They already have a natural chemistry with each other, and it comes across strongly in their onscreen interactions. Of course, Tracker should put more importance on the Shaw family mystery, but Colter’s relationship with Billie could also make for its own entertaining story arc, particularly if they were to work a multi-episode case together. It’s among the best ways to further their relationship as the series continues.
