Beloved Days of Our Lives star Suzanne Rogers (Maggie) is speaking out about her future on the hit Peacock soap.
Rogers, 82, has played Maggie Horton Kiriakis for 52 years, debuting in the role on August 20, 1973. On November 8, Days of Our Lives celebrated its 60th anniversary, which led to Rogers making a bold claim about her future on the show.
Speaking with People magazine at the 60th Anniversary Celebration for Days of Our Lives, Rogers made her retirement plans crystal clear.
“Oh, listen. If they say ‘bye,’ I’ll go – I had a good run,” she declared before adding, “I’m not going until they lock me out.”
The statement comes after a spokesperson for the show shut down rumors this summer that Rogers’ time as Maggie was coming to an end. It seems the powers that be, and Rogers, are on the same page, wanting her and Maggie to stick around for a long time.

When reflecting on six decades of Days of Our Lives, Rogers gushed over the soap’s longevity and her time on it.
“Sixty is wonderful. I mean, not many shows can say that. I love it. It’s my whole life and my home for a long time,” Rogers expressed.
The good news about Rogers’ non-retirement plans comes hot on the heels of a challenging summer for her. Roers was dealt a life blow when she was diagnosed with Stage II colorectal cancer.
As Parade reported, the soap star took a break from the show to focus on treatment, so Maggie will be off-screen for a brief period next spring. The reason for the delay is, of course, that Days of Our Lives films nearly 10 months in advance.
Rogers confirmed ahead of the 60thanniversary celebration that her cancer is in remission, and it’s business as usual for the beloved soap star.
