A popular singer-actor from Massachusetts got his full at a legendary restaurant on the North Shore this week.
Donnie Wahlberg dined at Kowloon Restaurant in Saugus on Monday night, Dec. 8, which welcomed him “with rounds of Chinese cuisine,” a spokesperson for the restaurant said.
The entertainer posed for photos, including some with Kowloon’s staff members. The Route 1 landmark posted a picture of Wahlberg on Facebook with the caption, “Thank you for taking a picture with Kowloon’s own Donna!”
Kowloon, which celebrated its 75th anniversary over the summer, invited Wahlberg to come back whenever he is in town.
Wahlberg grew up in Dorchester with his eight siblings including fellow actor Mark and chef Paul, who oversees the family’s restaurant chain Wahlburgers.
Donnie Wahlberg first rose to fame as a founding member of the boy band New Kids on the Block. Formed in 1984, the group had success in the late ‘80s and ‘90s with hits such as “You Got It (The Right Stuff),” “Hangin’ Tough” and “Step by Step.”
Wahlberg later ventured into acting and has notably starred in shows including “Blue Bloods” and movies such as “Zookeeper, “Dreamcatcher,” “The Sixth Sense,” “Righteous Kill,” “Ransom” and the “Saw” franchise. Wahlberg also produced and starred alongside his family in the Emmy-nominated reality series “Wahlburgers” from 2014 to 2019.Wahlberg currently stars as NYPD detective Danny Reagan in “Boston Blue,” which follows Reagan as he takes a new position with the Boston Police Department tries to reconnect with his younger son.
