The Fate of ‘NCIS’ Fan-Requested Spin-Off Has Been Decided by Paramount+

Disappointing news for Tiva fans, Paramount is not moving forward with the NCIS spin-off, NCIS: Tony & Ziva. It’s officially been cancelled after one season. The series aired this fall on Paramount+ as an original for the streamer. It was a part of the larger NCISVerse that began with NCIS in 2003. This show took a different approach, following a spy-esque adventure for Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva David (Cote de Pablo).

The series followed Tony and Ziva unraveling a mystery after Tony’s security firm is compromised. The show balanced that with Tony and Ziva co-parenting their daughter Tali (Isla Gie) while also totally trying to not fall back into old habits (aka falling in love again). With that epic failure, fans got both Tiva’s happily ever after in the present, and the curtain was peeled back on some of what was missed in their relationship since their departure from NCIS.

Cast Respond Tiva’s Cancellation

Leads Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo took to social media to share their post-mortem thoughts, saying:

“We feel incredibly lucky to have had the chance to play these characters once again and to tell the next chapter of Tony and Ziva’s story,” Weatherly and de Pablo said in a statement. “Our deepest thanks go to our extraordinary cast, crew, writers, directors, and producers, and to our partners at CBS Studios and Paramount+ who helped make this dream a reality. But most of all, we want to thank the fans around the world who joined us on this adventure and finally got to see Tony and Ziva find their happily ever after.”

During its run, the series saw massive success, with fans tuning in weekly to the point that the show secured a spot in Paramount+’s Top 10 each week it was airing. The success, in part, is due to the show’s balance of the overarching plot with the growth of two beloved characters fans first met two decades earlier. It’s a departure from the procedural format of other shows in the franchise. In the statement, as the cast says, they aimed “to tell the next chapter of Tony and Ziva’s story.” Fans and cast alike are glad they “finally got to see Tony and Ziva find their happily ever after.”

All episodes of NCIS: Tony & Ziva are streaming now on Paramount+.
