Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple aren’t living together one year after they got engaged on national television. The couple, who met on The Golden Bachelorette, has taken time to get to know one another over the past 12 months, but they are still living under different roofs—in different states.
“Even though we live apart, we have spent a very good amount of time together,” Chapple told Us Weekly in an interview published on Sunday, Dec. 21. “And over the next two to three weeks, we’ll be together a lot. We’re still learning [about each other]. In all honesty, you still learn about someone a year later, and it’s been very enjoyable.”
Vassos and Chapple will be spending Christmas together in New York City, per the report. However, Vassos lives in Maryland while Chapple resides in Kansas.
As for why Vassos and Chapple haven’t taken the next step in their relationship, Vassos admits they’ve been “busy.”

“We figure it out month to month,” she told Us Weekly. “It’s harder because we’re a lot busier than we thought we were going to be, but we’ve had a lot of fun doing it. The way that it has unraveled has been really fun,” she continued, later adding, “We’ll get married, but right now, we’re busy. I couldn’t plan a wedding right now if my life depended on it. It would have to elope or go to city hall. I have a son who got married last summer. I have a son who’s getting married this summer. There may be babies on the way — life is so busy.”
Indeed a wedding will happen, Chapple insists, though it will be when the “time is right.”
In a September appearance on the Tangle with Kyle Ridley podcast, Vassos said that ABC did not offer for her and Chapple to have a televised wedding as they did with her ex, Golden Bachelor star Gerry Turner and his season pick, Theresa Nist.
“I am perfectly happy doing our own family wedding with our family and friends,” Vassos said on the pod.
