Tragedy struck: Emilia Clarke passed away, leaving millions of fans grieving md20

In an interview with The New York Times, Clarke says that the chances of seeing her on a dragon are unlikely, or even in the same frame as the mythical beast, suggesting that she’s no longer interested in exploring the genre — at least that side of it. “You’re highly unlikely to see me get on a dragon, or even in the same frame as a dragon, ever again,” Clarke told The New York Times. This isn’t the first time Clarke has expressed disinterest in returning to fantasy. Back in 2015, the actress told Metro that she didn’t want to be typecast and wished people would see her more than just as Daenerys Targaryen.

Clarke played Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones Seasons 1 to 8. Her performance did not go unnoticed, earning Prime Time Emmy Award nominations for “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series” and “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series,” as well as winning a Saturn Award for “Best Actress in Television” in 2019. Ever since the show ended in 2019, Clarke has appeared in other major franchises, including the Marvel series Secret Invasion as G’iah, Solo: A Star Wars Story as Qi’ra, and 2015’s Terminator Genisys as Sarah Connor. Clarke is set to appear in the upcoming spy thriller Ponies, which debuts on Peacock on January 15, and in Criminal, a crime drama set to debut on Prime Video at a later date.

The Targaryens’ Tale Continues in ‘House of The Dragon’

Daenerys Targaryen with a smudged face looks tense with smoke in the background in Game of Thrones Season 8.

While Daenerys Targaryen’s story ended during Game of Thrones, her House’s story continues in House of the Dragon, a spin-off set 172 years before Daenerys’s birth. The show is based on Martin’s book, Fire & Blood, which tells the story of the Dance of the Dragons, a war of succession and a civil war between two rival factions in House Targaryen: the Blacks and the Greens.

This show stars Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen, King Viserys I Targaryen’s (Paddy Considine) daughter, who was supposed to succeed her father, but the Iron Throne was given to her half-brother, Aegon II Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney). In Season 2, Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) offers Rhaenyra the throne in exchange for her family’s safety, as she can sense a war is coming. But in exchange for the Hightower’s safety, Rhaenyra wants Aegon dead to secure the throne. Despite agreeing to this condition, Aegon secretly leaves King’s Landing, alongside Larys (Matthew Needham).

Season 3 of House of the Dragon has yet to announce an official release date, but it is expected to air later this year. In the meantime, you can stream its previous seasons and Game of Thrones on HBO Max.
