Golden Bachelor’s Mel Owens Shares Relationship Update With Winner Peg Munson — And What’s Next for Them md18

Golden Bachelor’s Mel Owens shared the status of his relationship with his season two winner and their plans for the future during the After the Final Rose special.

The love is still blossoming for Mel Owens and Peg Munson.

After ending their journey together on the Golden Bachelor—not engaged but still committed—the former NFL star is celebrating their romance.

“I saw our love grow all the way through, and it’s special when it’s the right person,” Mel shared during the After the Final Rose special on Nov. 12. “We’ve spent some time together and we had moments together. We had some time and one thing that I love about her is the energy and the get up and go [attitude].”

Adding that they are “in love,” Peg shared that she and Mel plan to take the next step in their relationship on their own time and are not rushing an engagement.

“You know what’s nice about being in your 60s and going through life, you get to write your own love story—and we’re on the same page,” the 62-year-old shared. “That’s a love story the way that we get to do it.”

“And to continue to grow our love,” Peg added, “continue to spend time with our families and that’s the nice part about being in our 60s in your golden years is being able to do what you want to with that connection you have with someone.”

As for stepping out publicly after the end of their season, Peg couldn’t be happier.

“It’s exciting,” she noted. “We get to be out and we get to share this.”

Peg and Mel will keep riding the high of their romance as they travel to Las Vegas, Mel’s hometown of Michigan and attend the Super Bowl in California. Indeed, through it all, Peg is happy to have found her special someone.

“One thing I can say about Mel: He doesn’t have integrity, he is integrity,” Peg gushed during the special. “Let that sink in. That’s one thing I love about him.”

Mel’s journey to love began in September as he navigated finding a connection with 23 women. Ultimately, it came down to Peg and Cindy Cullers vying for the final rose. After Cindy self-eliminated during the finale—due to Mel’s inability to commit—the former NFL player’s future with Peg became clearer.

“This represents our commitment to love,” Mel told Peg while slipping a diamond on that finger, “to give us time to figure out together what our future holds.”

As Peg revealed that she and Mel are “on the same page” with their decision to move forward as partners, Mel noted that his journey was worth the wait.

“Today is about fully committing to Peg,” the 66-year-old shared in his final confessional on the finale. “And our future together because I’m ready.”
