One Chicago Goes Dark On NBC — But The Explosive Crossover Comeback Will Be Worth The Wait md18

From the very first One Chicago Wednesday of the new year, we have been spoiled with new episodes of Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD every week, which more than made up for the extended fall break. But we’re approaching our first week without new episodes.

On Wednesday, Feb. 11, don’t turn on NBC and expect to see new episodes of Med, Fire, or PD on NBC. In fact, don’t even expect to see repeated episodes airing in the shows’ usual timeslots. We’re simply not getting our One Chicago fix this week or in the following three weeks — unless of course you decide to binge-watch the latest episodes on Peacock.

After their airings on Feb. 4, all three shows are taking the remaining three weeks of February off from releasing new episodes due to NBC airing the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics airing in their three-hour timeslot for two of those weeks. We already knew the the One Chicago shows would be going on another hiatus in February, but that still doesn’t mean we’re ready after only getting them back on Jan. 7.

NBC’s coverage of the Winter Olympics began on Feb. 6, two days after the One Chicago shows signed off for the month, and continues through Sunday, Feb. 22 with the Closing Ceremony coverage. While all three shows could technically return with new episodes on Wednesday, Feb. 25, NBC has opted not to bring the shows back until the following week for reasons that haven’t been explicitly explained by the network.

The final Wednesday in February could bring One Chicago reruns or even a special programming event unrelated to the franchise that’s to be revealed by NBC. But what we do know for sure is that when Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD return, in that order for a very special occasion on March 4, it’s going to be an epic comeback that’s more than worth the wait.

NBC brings the One Chicago shows back on Wednesday, March 4 for the three-part crossover event. Chicago Fire kicks things off at 8/7c, temporarily swapping timeslots with Chicago Med, and concludes with Chicago PD at 10/9c as always. The crossover episodes, which entangle all three shows with one designated storyline, are consistently the most highly anticipated events, and this one just might take the cake with how much fans can’t wait to watch.

This time around, the widespread team of Chicago heroes responds to a call about a passenger jet that has mysteriously gone missing in the air, but that’s just the beginning of the wild events to come. As we know, the crossover welcomes back PD favorites Halstead and Upton for the first time since they each left the series. See, the three weeks without episodes will be more than worth it!
