Young Sheldon Ending With Season 7 Prompts Emotional Response From Sheldon & Missy Stars
While attending the TCAs, the Cooper kids offer candid responses to Young Sheldon season 7 being The Big Bang Theory prequel spinoff’s last.
The Cooper kids offer their candid thoughts on Young Sheldon ending with season 7. What started as a Big Bang Theory prequel that functions as Sheldon’s origins story has become so much more than that. In the last several years, Young Sheldon diversified its storytelling to become a true ensemble, which means increased interest in the rest of the Cooper family, including George and Mary’s other kids. Sheldon’s siblings have also gotten their respective arcs, and sometimes, they’re even better than the boy genius’.
Speaking at the TCAs, which Screen Rant was in attendance, the Cooper kid actors, Raegan Revord, Iain Armitage, and Montana Jordan shared their thoughts on Young Sheldon season 7 being its last. The trio are joined by the primary cast of the prequel, but considering how much they’ve grown on the show, it’s interesting to hear their two cents on the series ending. Read their full quotes below:
Raegan Revord : I’ve been on the show since I was 9… I was in a car seat and I’m now learning how to drive… Having the knowledge that this is the last one makes it easier to cherish.
Ian Armitage : I’ve had the best time getting to grow up and be here with all of you guys and I love everyone here so much. I am so sad this is coming to an end, but honestly I could have asked for nothing better… As hard or sad as it is ever, it’s so important to remember that the only reason it is because we have such a wonderful group of people we get to work with… So yeah, I’ve had a great time.
Montana Jordan : I’m just gonna second everything they just said.
Will Sheldon And Missy Appear In Georgie’s Young Sheldon Spinoff?
If it wasn’t for The Big Bang Theory canon, CBS would likely keep the show on the air, especially since it is currently TV’s number-one comedy. Luckily, the writers found a way to take advantage of its success beyond its run. Young Sheldon will essentially continue with Mandy and Georgie’s spinoff. Granted that there’s no official cast list yet aside from Montana Jordan and Emily Osment, however, Missy and Mary actors, Raegan Revord and Zoe Perry, can still return, if it sticks to the established canon of the nerd-centric sitcom.
What’s uncertain is if it will find a way to incorporate Sheldon into its storytelling. After graduating from college at East Texas Tech, the boy genius will move to Pasadena, California where he will stay well into adulthood, as seen in The Big Bang Theory. It’s worth noting that Sheldon and Georgie were expected to maintain their relationship until they fell out several years after George’s death. This means that CBS still has time to bring in Sheldon at a limited capacity in the new Young Sheldon spinoff.
The Young Sheldon TCA panel doesn’t include any kind of conversation about the upcoming Mandy and Georgie spinoff. Franchise co-creator Chuck Lorre isn’t also asked about the separate The Big Bang Theory offshoot that is also in the works. It makes it clear that the cast and crew’s focus is on wrapping up the prequel. In any case, whatever happens in Young Sheldon season 7 will likely be the launching pad of its next series.
