Raegan Revord Teases Surprising New Direction After Young Sheldon md13

At just nine years old, Raegan Revord became a household name as Missy Cooper on Young Sheldon. Now 17, the former child star is stepping into an entirely new chapter — and calling it a “big shift.”

After years in front of the camera, Revord is turning the page — literally.

From Sitcom Star to Published Author

Revord’s acting résumé is impressive by any standard. Before charming audiences as Sheldon Cooper’s quick-witted twin sister, they made their on-screen debut at just six years old on Modern Family. From there came appearances in Grace and Frankie, With Bob & David, and Teachers, steadily building a reputation as one of Hollywood’s brightest young talents.

But even while their acting career flourished, another passion had been quietly growing behind the scenes.

Writing.

“I have such a deep love for stories, storytelling and books,” Revord shared in a recent interview. “I 100 percent want to keep writing.” That love has now materialized into their debut young-adult novel, Rules of Fake Girlfriends, released on September 2.

A Romance with Heart — and Mystery

Rules of Fake Girlfriends follows Avery Blackwell, a rom-com-loving but perpetually single college freshman who trades her Columbia University plans for a year abroad in a seaside English town — her late mother’s alma mater. On the train, Avery strikes a deal with the charismatic Charlie: fake a relationship to make Charlie’s ex jealous in exchange for help solving a scavenger hunt Avery’s free-spirited mother left behind.

As their adventure unfolds across Brighton, Avery begins to reconnect with her mother’s legacy — and with herself. What starts as pretend romance slowly blurs into something deeper, forcing Avery to question whether love is worth the risk when secrets threaten to unravel everything.

The novel blends humor, grief, self-discovery, and LGBTQ+ romance — a combination that already has readers buzzing.

Already Thinking Ahead

Although the book just hit shelves, fans are already asking for more. Revord has confirmed that Avery and Charlie’s story is complete — but that doesn’t mean the world is closed.

They’ve hinted at the possibility of a prequel centered on Maddie, another intriguing character in the novel. In fact, Revord admits they planted “little Easter eggs” in Rules with that possibility in mind.

Still, their next literary move may surprise fans even more.

A Fantasy Twist

While romance launched Revord’s publishing career, it won’t define it. The actor-turned-author revealed they are currently working on a fantasy novel — a dramatic departure from rom-com territory.

“It’s a big shift from a rom-com,” they explained, “but it’s a lot of fun.”

Interestingly, the fantasy manuscript actually predates Rules of Fake Girlfriends. Revord began developing that world first, stepping away temporarily to complete their debut novel before returning to the expansive, imaginative project.

For longtime fans who recently saw Revord appear in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, the transition from sitcom sets to fantasy world-building signals a creative evolution that feels both bold and intentional.

Growing Beyond Missy Cooper

Revord uses they/them pronouns and has grown up in the public eye — a rare feat in an industry that often struggles to nurture young talent into adulthood. Their pivot to publishing shows not just ambition, but agency.

Missy Cooper may have been the role that made them famous, but storytelling is proving to be the path that defines their future.

From sitcom punchlines to seaside romances — and soon, fantasy realms — Raegan Revord isn’t just making a “big shift.”

They’re building a whole new world.
