Fire Country is officially back from hiatus.
The CBS series, which stars Bode (Max Thieriot) as a convict working in a prison-release firefighting program in his small town in Northern California, went on a midseason break after an intense episode that aired on Dec. 19. New episodes of season 4 will begin airing in the show’s usual Friday, 9 p.m. ET slot starting Feb. 27.
Weeks ahead of the mid-season premiere, Deadline reported that CBS had renewed Fire Country for a fifth season. The hit drama averages over 8 million viewers and spawned the spinoff series Sheriff Country, which premiered in October 2025.
Here’s everything to know about the episode release schedule for Fire Country season 4, including when new episodes come out.
When does Fire Country season 4 come back?
Fire Country will return on Feb. 27.
In a December 2025 interview with Parade, showrunner Tia Napolitano teased that a big twist during the midseason premiere will have a “huge impact on Bode” that will play out in the rest of season 4.
“That is kind of the engine for the story moving forward, and you can see where this is going,” she said.
Though that twist remains to be seen, station 49 battles “a massive wildfire” in episode 10 that forces the team to make “tough calls on the front lines” that “spark even tougher questions back at headquarters,” per the episode’s logline.
Napolitano also teased that a “huge crossover” is coming to the show, which she promised will have a “very meaty back half of the season.”
Though unconfirmed, fans have wondered whether the crossover in question could feature Sheriff Mickey Fox (Morena Baccarin) from the franchise’s spinoff Sheriff Country. First introduced in the second season of Fire Country, Fox is not only part of the Edgewater universe but also Cal Fire Division Chief (and Bode’s mom) Sharon’s (Diane Farr) stepsister.
Farr told TV Insider in May 2024 that she was excited to learn about the connection “because every layer of family for a character just allows you to see a different side of them.”
How many episodes are in Fire Country season 4?
There are 20 episodes total in season 4, per TV Guide. Since nine of those aired during the first half of the season, fans can expect at least 11 more to come.
Thieriot previously warned that fans would see an “unexpected version” of Bode this season, following the death of his father Vince Leone (Billy Burke) at the end of season 3.
“This season, he finds himself at a lot of different crossroads, facing all kinds of things emotionally, romantically, and physically,” the Fire Country star told Good Housekeeping in October 2025. “There are so many different layers to that, but I think more than anything, this is a season that’s about rising from the ashes.”
