Chicago Med is making a huge change for season 10

Chicago Med is making a huge change for its upcoming 10th season, with a new showrunner set to take charge.

The NBC medical drama was renewed for a further season back in March, but Deadline has reported that there will be a change behind the scenes, with Allen MacDonald set to replace Diane Frolov and Andy Schneider as executive producer.

MacDonald’s previous work includes Prime Video’s Harlan Coben’s Shelter, of which he served as a co-showrunner and executive producer, while his writing credits include 13 Reasons WhyCSI and Body of Proof.

The report also states that the personnel for the other shows in the Chicago franchise, Fire and PD, will remain unchanged, though Fire will see some alterations to the cast after Eamonn Walker decided to leave the show after 12 seasons in the role of Chief Wallace Boden.

Walker isn’t the only star to leave Fire in recent weeks, with Rome Flynn and Kara Killmer also leaving the show as Derrick Gibson and Sylvie Brett respectively. Flynn, however, did tease that his exit might not be permanent, keeping the prospect of a return open-ended.

“Just like all the fans, I was sad to see Gibson leave. He was a character I very much enjoyed playing,” he said. “I had a wonderful experience during my time on Chicago Fire and have great respect for the cast and crew and hope to team up with Dick Wolf again when the time is right.”

Killmer’s exit seemed to be more concrete, though, with the star confirming that she wants to pursue other opportunities in her career, saying: “It’s definitely been so humbling and aspirational to be playing a first responder for this long.

“I’m very excited to see what else is out there on the horizon. There’s a lot of interesting content that’s being created right now. And I’m very satisfied with where things end up for Sylvie on Fire.”
