The Golden Bachelorette’s Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple are looking for their first home together in New York City. Keep reading for an update on the reality stars’ apartment search.
Chock Chapple already has the key to Joan Vassos’ heart. Now, they just need a key to an apartment in New York City.
And The Golden Bachelorette stars may just get it soon.
“We think we found a place,” Joan exclusively told E! News while attending iHeartRadio’s Jingle Ball in Los Angeles with her fiancé Dec. 6. “We have a realtor in New York, and she sent us a video of her going through the apartment and it looks great. So, we’re hoping it’s done.”
Like any couple, they each had different items on their wish lists for their home. While Chock wanted a smoking patio where he could have a cigar with friends, Joan was looking for a spacious closet.
“I want him to have the patio upstairs,” the 61-year-old continued. “But if we find a great place that doesn’t have one, the walk-in closet wins.”
However, Joan and Chock weren’t going to let these differences be thorns in their sides. Rather, when it comes to apartments, they’re just hoping they’ve finally found their match.
“The inventory is super low this time of year,” the school administrator explained. “We’re just keeping our fingers crossed that we get it. Hopefully, this is the one. But this was quick. We looked three weeks ago. We went and saw 20 places. And then this one just came up in SoHo, and it’s exactly where we want to be.”
Ultimately, Joan and Chock want a place together for the right reasons.
“We have our families around all the time, and we’re super lucky to have that,” she noted. “But to just be us a little bit will be really nice, and to have the whole city as our place to play is gonna be great.”
But living with another person can come with a learning curve, and Chock revealed the one item he realized he can’t steal from Joan for more than just a sec.

“I took her cell phone charger,” the 60-year-old told E!. “I’ll never do that again.”
As Joan teased, “He knows it’s a pet peeve of mine. I think I have PTSD from when my kids were growing up and every time I came down to the kitchen, one of their friends had stolen my charger.”
While getting an apartment has been a fast turnaround, the pair aren’t in as much of a hurry to tie the knot.
“That’s TBD,” Joan said about the timing of a wedding. “Right now, it just feels good to just be a couple and not have cameras all around and just to hang out and be us for a little while. So I think in a year-ish.”
As Chock previously noted to E! News, Joan told him about her dreams of living in New York while they were on The Golden Bachelorette and he even gave her a “Chock lock”—a.k.a. a keychain with a heart-shaped lock on it—ahead of his proposal as a symbol of his commitment to building this life together.
“We’re just excited,” the insurance executive from Kansas shared in November. “I think it’s going to be fun to watch Joan handle all this—from the furnishings to everything else to where we live. We get along so well I’m like, ‘This is yours. It was my gift to you. You pick it. You pick exactly what you want.'”
And while Joan and Chock will be celebrating the holidays at her house in Maryland this year, you can kick off the season festivities a little early by watching the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour special Dec. 18 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC and the next day on Hulu.

Peg Munson & Mel Owens
Even before Mel Owen’s season of The Golden Bachelor kicked off, he was hit with a few penalties after going on the MGoBlue Podcasts With Jon Jansen and insisting, “if they’re 60 or over, I’m cutting them,” adding that he wanted them to “try to stay away from the artificial hips and the wigs.”
And while his forever teammate Peg Munson is a fellow sexagenarian, his connection with the retired firefighter and bomb tech is quite explosive, the former NFL linebacker praising her as “high-energy” to Glamour.
Though he didn’t take a knee during his November 2025 finale, the sports lawyer still offered up a Neil Lane sparkler, saying, “This represents our commitment to love, to give us time to figure out together what our future holds.”
