Bachelor Nation saw Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple fall in love and get engaged on the very first season of “The Golden Bachelorette.”
Since their time on the show, the two have been spending time together in their respective hometowns and traveling the world together. The two are enjoying their engagement season and have been keeping fans updated with their lives online.
Recently, Chock went on the “In My Hometown Podcast” and revealed that his daughter Taylor Chapple was the one who filled out his “Golden Bachelorette” application for him.
He said, “My daughter signed me up — and it changed everything…How I got on the show, is my daughter was living in L.A., Taylor, and she called me up and she goes, ‘Dad, I don’t think you’re gonna like what I did.’ And you’re going, ‘What happened?’ And she goes, ‘A friend of mine saw an advertisement for ‘The Golden Bachelorette,’ and she goes — they were roommates in college, they’d all graduated — and she goes, ‘We’d thought you’d be great for it.’ So, here’s the story and this is the honesty of it.”

Chock went on, “There’s two ways you can apply for the show. You can apply yourself or you can nominate someone. I thought the whole time she nominated me. She actually applied if she were me. So, we get down to the last second and doing the final interview and the producer goes, ‘I gotta tell you, you’re not as funny as your application.’ And I’m like, ‘What did my daughter do here?’ So that’s how it happened.”
The Golden Bachelor Nation star then shared that he normally wouldn’t have gone on the show, but felt that he should.
He said, “I was married, two great kids, and then was in a long-term relationship, was engaged. She unfortunately came down with cancer and passed. And I went through, and I think a lot of people do this, I went through a point in my life going, ‘I really just don’t care. I’m gonna do some crazy stuff.’ You care, but I go, ‘I’m gonna do some stuff that’s outside of my four walls, my box.’ And I would’ve never have done this if I didn’t go through that with Kathy. And I just said, ‘Hey, why not go do this?’ I had no idea… I didn’t even watch an episode. I had no idea what I was getting into, and I did that on purpose. Because I just wanted to be fresh, and that’s part of my personality, too, is, like, I don’t wanna know the questions, let’s just talk. Let’s figure it out.”
What a fun story! We’re so glad that Chock went on the show, and we love following his and Joan’s love story. We can’t get enough of the Golden couple!
