‘Chicago Med’ Losing Another Star In Cast Shakeup

Chicago Med has been making sweeping cast changes heading into the next season. This includes losing at least one beloved cast member, and now another actor is leaving the series. While OneChicago fans still mourn the loss of several stars, this one was hinted at in the season finale.

Here is who is leaving the hit medical drama and what it means.

Chicago Med Losing Key Doctor After Five Seasons

Around the time Brian Tee teased he might one day return to Chicago Med, sad news followed. Dominic Rains, who plays Dr. Crockett Marcel on the hit medical series, is leaving the show after five seasons.

Dominic, 42, saw his Chicago Med exit hinted at in the Season 9 finale. In that episode, “I Think I Know You, but Do I Really?” Crockett had a young patient die, and then the boy’s father died by suicide as a result. This hit Crockett hard because his daughter recently died after battling leukemia.

When Crockett told Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson), he was told to take all the time off that he needed. It sounded like he would disappear from the show for a while, but from the sound of it, he is leaving for good (via People). The comments and moments in the finale made it easy to write him out of the series.

This also comes right after Chicago Med’s co-showrunners Diane Frolov and Andy Schneider left the series after nine seasons. Allen MacDonald replaces them.

Two Other Cast Members Returning To Chicago Med

However, while Crockett is leaving Chicago Med, three former cast members are returning to the show. Jessy Schram (Dr. Hannah Asher), Steven Weber (Dr. Dean Archer), and Luke Mitchell (Dr. Mitch Ripley) are all returning to the series. They will join Oliver Platt (Dr. Daniel Charles), S. Epatha Merkerson (Sharon Goodwin), and Marlyne Barrett (Maggie Lockwood) in the main cast.

Fans of One Chicago shows have seen several changes over the past few months. Eamonn Walker left Chicago Fire as a regular cast member but will remain on the show as a recurring character. That show also lost Alberto Rosende in December 2003 and Kara Killmer (Sylvie Brett) in February 2024.

Tracy Spiridakos (Det. Hailey Upton) also left Chicago P.D. after the Season 11 finale in May. On the series, Upton is married to Jay Halstead, who left Chicago early in season 10 to work with a military group tracking down drug cartel forces in Bolivia.

Luckily, despite rumors, many of the main cast members are still returning, including Taylor Kinney on Chicago Fire.
