Robert Pattinson easily and reveals his favorite movie from The Twilight Saga, the vampire franchise that kick-started his career.
Pattinson stars opposite Zendaya in The Drama, which just released theatrically. The dark comedy follows a would-be bride and groom whose relationship is jeopardized when the bride reveals an unsettling secret days before the wedding. Much of the movie’s marketing hinges on the leading duo, who will also appear together in The Odyssey and Dune:Part Three in 2026, and Twilight came up in a recent interview between the two of them.

For their GQ Friendship Quiz, Pattinson and Zendaya quizzed each other on trivia about themselves. When Pattinson asked Zendaya what his favorite Twilight movie was, she guessed the first one. “I actually always really liked the second one,” he responded. This would be 2009’s New Moon, which is actually an outlier of the series as Pattinson’s Edward is absent for much of the runtime after leaving Bella (Kristen Stewart) in an attempt to protect her.
Historically, Pattinson has repeatedly expressed his disdain for The Twilight Saga both during his tenure with the franchise and after. He has softened his opinion in recent years, showing some appreciation for the role and fanbase that launched him to superstardom. Prior to Twilight being his proper breakthrough, Pattinson held the supporting role of Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
While Twilight still had movies to release, Pattinson began to make his way out of the YA fantasy genre, starring in Francis Lawrence’s 2011 period drama Water for Elephants. But after the release of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, Pattinson soon made a new name for himself, working with Robert Eggers on The Lighthouse and Christopher Nolan on Tenet.
Today, Pattinson’s repertoire of critically acclaimed work also includes The Batman, Mickey 17, The Devil All the Time, and Die My Love. He also stars alongside Denzel Washington and Daisy Edgar-Jones in Fernando Meirelles’ upcoming Here Comes the Flood. Like Pattinson, Zendaya began her career with projects meant for a younger audience, which weren’t taken so seriously, but proved later that she was capable of a wide range of performances.
The Drama debuted to a strong Rotten Tomatoes score that has now settled at 79%. It is sharing its opening weekend with the family animated adventure The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, a feature that is built to be a much bigger box office presence than The Drama. With more striking movies like this, Robert Pattinson seems to have largely escaped being typecast due to Twilight, perhaps making it possible for him to claim a favorite from this franchise.
