Game Of Thrones Spinoff About Violent Westeros Period Moves Forward With The Batman 2 Writer

HBO takes another step forward with one of its many in-development Game of Thrones spinoffs by adding a writer to its Aegon’s Conquest show.
One of HBO’s in-development Game of Thrones spinoffs, Aegon’s Conquest, is moving forward with a writer on board. Even before the hit fantasy series inspired by George R.R. Martin’s books came to a close, HBO was already looking for ways to expand the Game of Thrones world on the small screen. So far, only one spinoff, House of the Dragon, has come to fruition. Meanwhile, the franchise’s second spinoff show, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight is scheduled to begin production later this year.
Now, The Hollywood Reporter has shared that Aegon’s Conquest has entered a new stage of development by adding a writer. Mattson Tomlin, the co-writer on the upcoming DC movie The Batman Part II, is now on board the fantasy series. It is reported that sources close to the project suggest the new show is taking a “back to basics” approach to the fantasy world first created by Martin.

Where Aegon’s Conquest Fits Into The Game Of Thrones Timeline
Ever since Game of Thrones finished its critically acclaimed points eight-season run, there have been multiple plans to expand upon the world of Westeros and its surrounding nations set at various in Martin’s expansive fantasy timeline. While the unaired pilot filmed under the production title Bloodmoon will go back to the famous Age of Heroes set some 10,000 years before the events of Game of Thrones, House of Dragon will only journey back 172 years before the birth of Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen.
This new prequel show will focus on the conquest of Aegon Targaryen, which sees the kingdoms of Westeros united under his banner, and will seem to continue the trend of taking viewers further back in time. With the original Targaryen conquest taking place roughly 100 years before House of the Dragon, it will offer a glimpse of the true might of House Targaryen before its inevitable decline.

With the assistance of his sister-wives, Rhaenys and Visenya, and a trio of dragons, Aegon the First was able to crush his rivals in a brutal campaign that saw the destruction of several defiant noble houses. Leaving an indelible mark on the history of Westeros, Aegon’s Conquest is perfectly poised to deliver one of the most brutal and violent glimpses into a beloved fantasy world already renowned for its ruthlessness.
