While Waiting For Bridgerton Season 4, Watch This Amazon Prime Show With 91% On Rotten Tomatoes

Amazon Prime Video’s new historical romance My Lady Jane has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 91%, and it is a great way to pass the time while waiting for Bridgerton season 4. Based on the timing of each season’s release, it’ll take approximately two years for Bridgerton season 4 to drop on Netflix. In 2023, viewers had Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story to watch as they waited for Bridgerton season 3, but it looks like the lead-up to the next season won’t be filled with a Bridgerton spinoff this time.

As it stands, it’s hard to say when there will be another installment in the Bridgeton franchise. There’s also no sign that Queen Charlotte season 2 is in development. Luckily though, Amazon Prime Video recently released their new TV show My Lady Jane, based on the book series of the same name. Alhough it’s not connected to Bridgerton directly, it can help fill the void left by the break between seasons.

My Lady Jane Is A Great Historical Romance Show To Watch If You Love Bridgerton

My Lady Jane And Bridgerton Share Similarities Across Genre, Plot, And Setting

Jane and Guildford have sex in My Lady Jane

My Lady Jane has a lot in common with Bridgerton, with their primary shared characteristic being that both shows are historical romances. However, there is much more to My Lady Jane, and it is certainly worth the attention – the show has a 91% on Rotten Tomatoes for an excellent reason. Its approach to its characters and how it used its setting to support their journeys is not unlike the approach Bridgerton has taken.

Besides both shows being historical romances, My Lady Jane and Bridgerton share many similar qualities. Both shows take place during different periods—Bridgerton is in the Regency era, while My Lady Jane is in the 1600s—but they are both set in Britain. The two narratives are close to the British Crown although in different ways. Furthermore, My Lady Jane‘s romance between Jane and Guilford is an enemies-to-lovers story, similar to Anthony and Kate’s romance. Jane and Guildford rival the Bridgerton romances with its high stakes, electrifying chemistry, and compelling narrative.

My Lady Jane’s Rotten Tomatoes Score Beats All 3 Seasons Of Bridgerton

Critics Are Much Bigger Fans Of My Lady Jane Than They Are Of Bridgerton

Jane sits sadly in a massive gold and white dress in My Lady Jane

Bridgerton seasons 1 and 3 received 87% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes on the critics, and Bridgerton season 2 fared less with 77%. My Lady Jane beats all three seasons of Bridgerton with a remarkable 91% from Rotten Tomatoes critics. Even the audience scores for My Lady Jane are higher. Rotten Tomatoes audiences gave Bridgerton season 1 70%, season 2 received 73%, and season 3 ties with My Lady Jane at 76%. The consensus seems to be that My Lady Jane is better than Bridgerton (at least according to Rotten Tomatoes.)

But perhaps the most exciting aspect of My Lady Jane is that it completely rewrites British history. Jane is no longer simply known as the Nine Days’ Queen, raising the stakes and creating a world of possibilities for a potential season 2.

My Lady Jane does not have the issues that Bridgerton does, which include distracting side plots and obstacles that drag out too much in the main narrative. My Lady Jane also has a fantastical element with the Ethians and Verities, possibly a narrative parallel to Protestants and Catholics. But perhaps the most exciting aspect of My Lady Jane is that it completely rewrites British history. Jane is no longer simply known as the Nine Days’ Queen, raising the stakes and creating a world of possibilities for a potential season 2.
