Could someone else become Frost’s love interest?
Not too long ago, fans were excited at the possibility of an inter-show relationship between Novak and Frost. Their relationship seemed fun, exciting, and joyful…until it wasn’t. Frost quickly realized he wanted more than Novak was willing to give, and they decided it would be best to go their separate ways. Truthfully, viewers shouldn’t have been surprised when Mouch and Trudy seem to be the only ones who have kept an inter-show relationship alive.
For a bit longer, fans held on to the hope that maybe the two would find their way back to each other. Nevertheless, both Chicago Med and Chicago Fire quickly eliminated that notion from their minds. Instead, Chicago Med went back to its original plan of making Frost and Naomi Howard the relationship to ship.
When Frost first approached Naomi about a date, she freaked out. She was afraid mixing her personal and professional lives would backfire on her. It was even more understandable after the harassment she received from an attending. Naomi’s decision to keep everything separate and establish boundaries wasn’t one that we would judge. However, not long after Frost’s date proposal, Naomi began to regret saying no to him.
She spoke to Hannah Asher about it and received the encouragement she needed to say yes to the doctor she liked. But when she approached Frost to say she had changed her mind, he had already moved on to Novak…or so it seemed.

Chicago Med season 11, episode 16, “The Book of Charles,” makes us feel as if Frost had only been using Novak as a distraction. If he had actually wanted to move their relationship to the next level and get more intimate with her, why would he be pursuing Naomi mere episodes after their breakup? It’s either too fast and it will backfire, or he was always meant to be with Naomi.
The cute, fun moments between Frost and Naomi definitely don’t go unnoticed. Their Wordle rivalry and the playfulness of their competition offer a small glimpse of what a relationship between the two of them would look like. But it isn’t until Charles mentions it that Frost has the courage to ask her out again.
Honestly, it would have been perfect for Naomi to walk into the locker room and see it covered floor to ceiling in light-in-the-dark stars. It would have been the best way for this connection to rekindle. Sadly, she’s in a relationship already, and by the time Frost came around to ask her, she was gone for the day. This doesn’t mean, however, that he will stop pursuing her or that their relationship won’t happen. After all, if there’s one thing we’ve learned about Chicago Med is that relationships happen in the most unexpected ways.
But…it might definitely mean there is no hope for Frost and Novak as he moves on. He isn’t the only one to move on, either. Novak talks about Frost on Chicago Fire season 14, episode 17, “Sway,” as someone from her past and seems more upset about Vasquez and Violet’s hookup than her breakup from Frost.
