Laura Collins walked into the Brown Dog and found Ezra Boyle drunk, belligerent, and ranting to a bartender about wanting to be mayor and the viper he was being forced to work with. Any other politician would have called the police. Laura pulled out her phone and recorded it. Then she did something nobody expected. She showed Ezra the video, told him it was a wake up call, and brought him home to sober up.
Not to the PCPD. Not to Dante Falconeri‘s desk. To her living room. Laura Collins looked at a man who works for the person trying to destroy her and saw something useful.
When Ezra woke up, the confessions started pouring out. He told Laura that during Jenz Sidwell‘s tantrum about everyone failing him, Sidwell revealed exactly what was behind the blackmail photos. Ezra admitted he does not want to be the next corpse Laura finds in her trunk. He hates what Sidwell has made him into. And then he dropped the bomb that shook Laura to her core: the reason Sidwell framed Laura for Dalton’s murder was because Ezra made a casual comment that Sidwell would need leverage over the mayor.

Laura told Ezra she suspects the flight path Sidwell pressured her to approve is about more than helicopter travel time to and from Spoon Island. She wants Ezra to find out what Sidwell is really using it for so they can bring the information to the authorities. Ezra agreed. Laura told him to call her next time he feels the walls closing in instead of drinking.
Let that sink in. The mayor of Port Charles is not waiting for the PCPD to connect the dots. She is not waiting for the WSB to clean up its own mess. She is not sitting in City Hall filing motions and hoping someone else handles the man who framed her for murder. Laura Collins is running her own operation now, and her first recruit is the man Sidwell thinks is still working for him.
How Far Will Laura Push Ezra?
Here is where it gets dangerous. Ezra told Laura he is in too deep to get out clean. He said Sidwell revealed what is behind the blackmail photos during a tantrum. He said he does not want to be the next body. This is a man who is terrified of his employer and Laura Collins is asking him to stay inside that terror and gather intelligence.
Laura Collins is not naive. She knows what she is asking. She is asking Ezra Boyle to smile at Sidwell across the breakfast table at Wyndemere while secretly documenting his crimes. She is asking him to sit in meetings and absorb threats and report back to the mayor’s living room. She is asking him to be a double agent against a man who pulled a gun on his own son and has a body count that Port Charles is still discovering.
And Ezra said yes. Because Laura Collins did the one thing nobody else in Port Charles has done for Ezra Boyle. She did not judge him. She did not arrest him. She gave him a way out that did not involve a body bag or a prison cell. She gave him purpose.
Sidwell’s Empire Has a Leak and He Cannot See It
Sidwell thinks Ezra is his errand boy. He thinks the man who runs his errands and delivers his threats is too scared to betray him. And he is right that Ezra is scared. But scared men who are given a lifeline by someone who treats them with dignity become the most dangerous assets in the world.
Laura Collins now has a video of Ezra’s drunken confession as insurance. She has his voluntary cooperation. She has his insider knowledge of what is behind the blackmail photos. And she has a direct line into Sidwell’s operation that the PCPD, the WSB, and even Sonny Corinthos do not have.
