Heartbreaking Loss: Beloved *SEAL Team* Cast Member Passes Away, Leaving Fans Devastated kn01

Beloved Member of the ‘SEAL Team’ Cast Dead originally appeared on Parade.

Dita the Hair Missile, the Belgium Malinois, who played Cereberus on SEAL Team, has died, her owner Justin Melnick posted on Instagram today.

Justin wrote: “Dita the Hair missile 07/02/14- 07/13/25. She was taken suddenly and unexpectedly due to bloat. Because of her age and the invasive surgery, I had to make the tough call. To my best friend thank you. You will be missed.”

Dita was an original cast member of SEAL Team, who was a real-life police K9 trained in narcotics detection and counter-terrorism. She was paired with the character of Brock, who was played by her owner Melnick. She spent several seasons on the series before she had to be retired.

Unlike the actors on the show, Dita wasn’t able to differentiate what was real and what was made up for the series, so she began to experience combat stress, especially from the sounds of loud explosions on the set. As a result, Dita was retired from action scenes and replaced by Pepper, a Dutch Shepherd, in the final few seasons.SEAL Team Series Complete Seasons 1 2 3 4 5 6 DVD Sets NEW One-Six | eBay

In Season 4, Parade had spoken with Boreanaz about working with Dita in a scene where the two of them are alone together after being separated from the rest of Bravo Team. While on the mission, Jason gets blown off the side of the mountain, is rescued by Cerberus, and rescues the dog when the dog is knifed by one of the terrorists.

“For me approaching that, those moments, especially with Dita, was gaining the trust factor. Dita was great. She was on point. We worked a few weeks ahead of time in certain situations with me being closer to her, working with the dog on sitting, and knowing how to hold the dog. Safety is first and foremost on the show. Always has been. And when working with a dog or any animal in that type of environment, it makes it even more difficult. So, I had to really be in tune with Dita. And I was. That’s what was my approach was.

“So, I learned that, and that was a very powerful experience for me. One that made me become more vulnerable in the environment, the snow, the physicality, and not stopping, and not cutting, and carrying this dog from point A to point Z. And not stopping it, just going. That was hard. It was physically hard, but we were there for each other and we both knew that. I told her that, and God bless her, she was awesome.”All seven seasons of SEAL Team are streaming on Paramount+.
